Some shields have an extra benefit on them, such as fire resist or armor. Does this only apply to the actual shield itself? Or does that work for the character? If it works for the character, does it still work if I'm playing as E'lara and don't have the shield currently pulled out? Or only if I have my sword and board pulled out.

As much as I noticed, it only works if you are holding the shield in your hand.

Doesn't seem to help if it's on your back.
