Shields on your back

I think it would be a lot better looking if when your weapons aren't Drawn (even for NPCs) you would put your shield on your back

Yes, I completely agree. I play as a Shield and Sword Character and it bothers me when I unequip my shield and it suddenly disappears. What Skyrim needs are some aesthetic changes to the 3rd Person model.

I agree. Maybe even some first person actions that are usually shown in third person (e.g. sitting down).

It'd be nice if unequipped items were displayed on you in general. Hotkeyed items in the favorites menu at least, although I'd like to be able to hotkey more than two items.

I hate having that awkward shield clipping my thighs. I liked the way Dragon Age: Origins did it. Shield and weapon on back.

Yes exactly.

I was thinking the same thing but didn't wanna stray off topic. I got a glitch the other day where both my weapons (Sword and dagger) were equipped on my character and it looked rad. I wanna see all my hotkeyed/favorited heart equipped. (or as much as possible)

It's not like we can even use the shield without pulling out our weapon as well, so why not?

I'd still rather see our second Dual Wielded weapon though.

I'd rather have my secondary weapon being on my person, and the staffs to be used as walking sticks when you're not "wielding" them but still have them equipped, but I don't use shields that often.

But I still support this.

could not agree more and if you use dual wielding then you have weapons on both sides not just one and for two handed weapons would be nice if they would add that that you actually put your weapon some were even if its something small like leather strap like it is for one handed weapons would be nice to get a little patch to fix these things

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=78482213&insideModal=1 The code is still there to show hotkeyed items, and can be enabled on PC with an ini chance, but it has some annoying bugs which is propably why it's not enabled by default.

Doesn't put shields on back though :hehe: ...Or does it? I think i didn't have a shield hotkeyed when i took that screenshot.

Edit: no it doesn't.

yeah and the other weapon you dual weild to show on your right side

I think it would be really weird to change it now I mean I'm so used to how it is now also wouldn't that change everyone in game to have their shield on their back? it would be weird to see guards with sheilds on their back

Mind sharing which ini setting that is?

Add

bDisableGearedUp=0

Under [General] header of Skyrim.ini. The biggest problem is that you can't use hotkey to switch weapons or the old weapon gets stuck on the character's hand. You need to sheat the weapon before changing it.

Well, if you're looking for that kind of realism, so too should be displayed on a person: 2 iron maces, 7 hide armor, 2 ebony war axes, 3 iron shields, steel armor, steel boots, steel gloves, 19 potions, 12 gem stones, 2 mammoth tusks, 7 light armor boots, and an Elven warhammer, and this is all in addition to what I have equipped.

Realism means I can't really carry 400 "weight" of gear around Skyrim without adverse consequences.

I still don't understand exactly how the shield would stay there. Does it just magically hang there until you reach back for it? Does it clip on? If it clips on, is it a fast release clip? If it's fast release, who made it? Can they even do that in the TES world? What materials would they use? What would it clip to? A backpack? What if you aren't wearing a backpack? Would it clip to your steel armor? What if the character is wearing a tavern outfit? What if you're wearing Steel Plate, don't you think that armor would interfere with the kind of arm flexibility you would need to reach up, over your shoulder, to grab the handle of the shield? Would that handle just kind of magically shift so you could grab it easily, or are we back to some kind of weird, out of place fast release mechanism? Just how quickly do you think you could ready that shield when a bandit is rushing at you swinging a war hammer?

Just because Dragon Age did it doesn't mean Skyrim needs to do it. It didn't make sense in Dragon Age, and it wouldn't make sense in Skyrim.

/ragerant

On the other hand, showing that second sheathed weapon is something I'd like. And it makes a whole lot more sense than a shield on your back.
