Should I buy Skyrim?

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 6:22 am

I've heard that there are many bugs and glitches, while some are minor there are some that are game breaking. I've even heard that some PS3's have been killed by this game. Should i risk everything and go buy it? I have the original big 40gb PS3. It runs perfectly fine. I've been thinking about holding off for a week or two, cause maybe by then updates/patches would be available. I've gotten past Bethesda games like Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas. But i only got them once they hit the $20 mark and by then all patches were available. So should i risk it and buy it? Or wait a couple of weeks or a month or two.

In the long run, paying $60 is totally worth it :)

I have not encountered a single but yet, but I'm playing for the 360.

Skyrim will probably be GOTY. Buy it, you fool! Bugs will be patched over time.

I have it for ps3 its ran fine so far. the framerate drops after a while(6-8 hours with the ps3 being on) and gamewise you would be a fool to not get it, its the first game in a while that im excited to play when i get home.

I've got it for an old 40 gig PS3. Awesome. Only glitches so far are of the hilarious nature. ie: rabbits running on water, vanishing moose, etc. Nothing that really even effects game-play. And that's with nearly 50 hours between myself and my brother.

Lol at some of the posts. I'm highly considering buying it as this would be the first game i've bought in around 5 months or so. I'm just a bit wary of that one problem. IT causes the PS3 to actually die. And i've heard that it will lag a lot after you hit the 5mb mark on save files. Its just i want it bad but with all the problems idk.

If you answered yes to any of those don't....err wait no

Wether you answered yes or not yeah buy it. Just kiss all of the above goodbye.

Have you played Oblivion? Do you think it could be done much better (and would be great if so)? Then you should buy Skyrim. :)

I am running it on an old 80 gb PS3 and haven't had any problems yet, whatsoever, knock on wood. Except two small issues: I have had two freezes, one was about ten seconds long, and the other I had to reset the console. But I've logged easily 20+ hours so far.

It looks great, runs great. Bethesda did better with the PS3 users this time around. I would continue to check around though, about your 40 gb. May get toasted, may not.

I've read that the game would cause your console to lock up and so the owner would turn it off. but then it would never turn on again.

So what your saying is my 40gb might get toasted. But for what reason? It should be built the same as the other original big ones right? Except for the fact it doesn't have backwards compatibility and less space.

Any idea where you read that? sounds more like a personal problem than a Skyrim caused one

If you have a wife, girlfriend, children, a family, school, or a job, I cannot suggest for you to buy Skyrim in good faith.

You'd be spending so much time on Skyrim you'll neglect everything else.

Wait until a patch, don't spoil the experience by the bugs.

There's a current problem being highly reported over the PS3 version in that when the saved data files reaches a certain size (usually around 5-6 mbs), the game starts stuttering and slowing down to the point of unplayability. Keep that in mind and know that it doesn't take all too long (at most maybe 25-30 hours) before that size is reached. I'm hoping it's not true as I'm approaching that size now, but sadly, I think it may very well be.
