Should I Buy This? (NG safe?)

Post » Tue May 22, 2012 6:09 pm

I made an account just to see if the 1.4 patch has made it safe to purchase this game for the PS3.... so new games/installs and all relevant files in this seemingly more stable form. Anyone have experience with that (and by that I mean 5 days of experience with this game as I believe this patch was released on the 10th)?

I've torn up Dark Souls and am ready for another wrpg but would pick up Yakuza 4 and Deus Ex if this is still broken.

With all of the issues with the XBox/PS3 right now I would say no. Get tthe PC version if at all possible becasue at least the PC version has "console commands" and you can right some of the wrongs that Bethesda has shipped this game with. (For Example, when you have to create items becasue you dropped/sold/couldn't find the item because of a glitch. Or times when you have to bring somebody back.) If had known then what I know now, I would have NEVER bought the PS3 version of this game. AND... a lot of stores (Wal-Mart) WILL NOT take a game back becasue of bugs/glitches. At best they will let you exchange it. (They don't want people buying a game, "beating" it, then bringing it back for a refund.) Bethesda's take on it is, "I've got your money. Don't like it? Just return it to where you purchased it." Problem is, most of the time you can't. I know, I just tried to return this junk game and I can't, so I am out 80 dollars, (60 dollars for the game and 20 dollars for the game guide).

I started completely over from scratch when 1.4 was released...I've only got about 16 hours of play time under my belt, but so far, I haven't experienced any massive, game-breaking problems. Before the patch, I had massive FPS drops and freezing- I have not had those issues return...but that's not to say they won't. All indications so far make it seem like it would be a safe purchase, but you might want to keep checking the forums for a few days before making a decision.

Don't get me wrong, I really really really wanted to like this game. Scratch that, I TRIED FOR WEEKS to really like this game. I just can't. Too may glitches/bugs, if I hadn't seen this with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it. This last one made my game on the PS3 UNPLAYABLE and this last go 'round of patches didn't fix it (for me at least).

It seems strange to read these posts about huge bugs people are having with playstation 3 version of the game... I have played tens of hours (level 49 now). I have completed all but mage's quild and daedric questlines and have had only one bug with one quest and two minor problems with miscellaneous quests. I really can't complain as much as many others seem to do. Unplayable? No way!

I could be wrong but I have a feeling that the amount of empty space in the harddrive of ps3 might have something (at least a little) to do with it (problems such as lag). At one point I had only a couple of gigabytes free and the game seemed to start having some lag issues. I then deleted some game information of other games I dont play anymore to free some space, the lag seemed to be a less of an issue after that. Or maybe I'm imagining things (or it was just a coincidence, anyway this was before 1.4 update), I don't know :)

Anyway, just wanted to tell my opinion that the game is definitely playable and enjoyable already.

Cheers.

Nope, I've only 400GB free and have problems pre and post patch.
