Should I get Crysis Maximum Edition?

Post » Thu Apr 15, 2010 10:23 pm

Hey guys :D To be honest, I've never really played Crysis (only the demo), I've heard of the game, watched gameplay but never really played. I know the sequel is coming out soon and I REALLY don't want less than 30 fps while still getting the good eye candy effect. I want to test my PC's FPS with the game and I want to know the story. I find the maximum edition is at a pretty good price, it comes with
Crysis
Crysis Warhead
and Crysis Wars
at 49.99$ CAD

Sooo should I get it or not?

BTW, here are my specs just incase you're curious:

GTX 260 (overclocked to 655/1412/1098
Intel core i5 661 Dual core w/ hyperthreading stocked at 3.33ghz
4GB of DDR3 RAM
Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium

P:S While checking out the price at BestBuy, I noticed the Crysis 2 pricetag and then my eyes lit up... 70$!?!?! Do you guys think it's a rip off? Let me know in the comments

70$ for a laggy experience (FPS wise) is not worth it IMO. I hope they optimize this 10x more than Warhead...

Best buy would be ripping you off, the Crysis 2 pre order is $50.

Also with the rig you have their, you should be able to run Crysis Maximum Edition just fine. That is also a really good deal for 3 games, so I would get it for the Singleplayer. If you are looking just to get it for multiplayer, I would pass, because they are all dead. However the singleplayers altogether are about 15-17 hours, so it is still a good deal. :)

Regarding Maximum Edition, only thing I can say is if you have no Crysis tiltle's, go for it, I had Crysis at get go, so then when available I got the Warhead n wars deal.

Had I been a late commer, yes I would go for Maximum Edition, I wont Order Online, so I am still waiting to see what the In Store pre-oder costs will be.

That has just been delayed so! :-)

Yea you should get the maximum edition. Best buy has it for $40 here in the US, but I don't know about in Canada, I'd assume it would be the same.

North America has only 3 servers with good population.

Bros: Power Struggle (60ms)
Myrmidons: Team Instant Action (90ms)
Ferrets Place: Team Instant Action (20ms)

Then there are the occasional times when a random server gets players. I refuse to play on Ferrets Place because it is so modded, so their really is nowhere to play... Bad Company 2 has over 300 populated North America servers, compared to 2 for Crysis Wars.

Should be able to get 30 + fps on medium to high settings with that rig. It may drop in the 20's for very high settings.

I have played Crysis since original release with a core 2 duo at 3.0 ghz, a 8800 gtx and 2 gig ram and enjoyed every minute of it (or hour as I have over 600 hours in crysis wars alone). I did most of that playing in medium settings for fun and low settings for competitive play (and got between 35 and 60 fps on almost every map).

I've just upgraded ram and gpu and can now play on high settings just fine, but i still drop it to medium low settings for competitive online play for that smooth 60 fps experience.

Actually, with the res of 1680x1050, all very high, no AA. I average at 30fps, I never really go below 20.

And I'm probably going to get Warhead instead, I went to Best Buy yesterday and noticed the 19.99$ price tag. And it comes with warhead AND Wars. Which is better, Crysis or Crysis Warhead?

Without Crysis, you will completely lost as to the story of Crysis Warhead. Crysis Warhead is just an expansion of the original singleplayer. Crysis also has some kickass mods going right now like Mech Warrior: Living Legends. :P

You should just get Crysis and Crysis Warhead. ;)
