Should I get Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning or Saints Row 3?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 8:47 am

I wasn't interested in it at first because it reminded me of World of Warcraft but I saw some gameplay and it looks good, but I might get Saints Row 3 also. I had Saints Row 2 which I spent hours on but I never got Saints Row 3 because I got Skyrim instead. Which would be more lasting? Saints Row 3 or Kingdoms of Amalur?

I can't speak for Kingdoms of Amalur. But Saints Row 3, while definitely a fun game, features far less actual content than we had in Saints Row 2. After you beat the game once, there really isn't that much to do, so I wouldn't say it has much long term potential.

I will say Amalur is fun, took me ~60 hours to beat? But you can get more gameplay depending on how fast you play and if you do tons of side quests. Beautiful world too.

I strongly recommend getting Amalur, it provides a lot of fun and you can put a lot of hours into it. The quests are usually unique and exciting, like games such as Skyrim, there is a main quest, several guilds and lots of side quests. While the world is not as open as Skyrim's it is certainly one of the most beautiful game worlds to date. If you like fanatsy RPGs Amalur is a must in my opinion.

Edit: I forgot one of the most appealing aspects of the game. The combat. I and many others think the combat is great, upon levelling up you can choose to put skills into Magic, Might or Finesse. With these skills you can learn new moves and improve with the weapons related to each skill. You can mix it up and create interesting characters with different combat styles.

Saints Row isn't a game that has much interested me. I have KoA, about 30+ hours in, will go back to it. It's fun, combat is fun, some interesting questlines... And it's pretty. I don't know, people are all "argh, too cartoon-y", but I just take a game's art style for what it is and if the game is fun, it's fun, regardless of whether they are going for a more cartoon-y style, or a dark style, or a realistic style. I mean,I guess if it was stick figures on a gray background, I might think twice....

Too many people judge a game by its graphics

Saints Row 3. Way more fun. Kingdoms of Amalur is okay, but nothing truly fantastic.

I d go with the other game rather than KOA it really needs to be patched, which im positive it wont since its EA patching it, and it has a few bugs, one which stops you from fast travelling across the map, i got it and i i was so far away from one quest giver i started running back and made it, then looked at all the other quests i had in my log to hand in, and have put the game away, it'll never get finished till its patched.

SR3 is nothing short of childs play. Throw in a little DX10 and some "hip" music and you got a AAA title.

Reckoning is far better, SR3 might have a better character creation but you'll get far more value time out of Reckoning. SR 3 you could spend 20-30 hours playing it, Reckoning is closer to 70 hours if not higher due to high replay value.

So I was playing the Reckonings demo and I noticed a glitch where there was no sound and every time I picked a dialogue sequence it would skip forward to the next dialogue sequence with no sound whilst skipping the dialogue until I got to the next dialogue option. Is this glitch in the full game?

The more I read about this game the more I want to try it. The graphics and world look like a slightly more mature Fable III and I really liked it.
