If you like the Brotherhood and want to side with the NCR, do not help Hardin.

the only difference it makes is what you have to do to join the brotherhood (somebody correct me if I am wrong) SPOILER! if hardin is in command you must kill the van graffs, if you dont do anything you must plant a thingy on the thingy in black mountain

I helped Paladin Hardin because I remembered how in FO3 the Brotherhood of Steel was out patrolling the roads and curb stomping mutants in the D.C. area... buncha bad-ass' they are. :toughninja: Anyway, I did all that because it breaks my heart to see them holed up in some bunker because Elder McNamara is a sissy girl... so yeah.

As for how it affects your game, no idea. :bonk:

there are very very good reasons for NOT helping Hardin. All will be made clear towards the end of the game ;)

I just picked up this quest today.

Think carefully about what you have learned about the shape the brotherhood is in.

I'm doing some of the optional stuff for this side quest but i think i won't help him in the long run based upon the information i have collected.

how can i best put this?

No.

Complete the Elder's questline and you'll get the best outcomes for the BOS. It just doesn't seem thay way when you look at it from the start of the quest and i'm guessing that's what obsidian was hoping for, tempting players with the quick, easy and beligerent path.
