I have never even heard Lovefilm. I have Netflix and I enjoy it. I have already seen most of what they have to offer on there though so it is kind of limited for me now. I have had it for 3 years though. I also use Hulu Plus to keep up on a couple new shows.

They seem to be kind of similar. With the exception of LoveFilm, it appears to have a few more new releases over NetFlix.

I had a NetFlix account but cancelled it due to the lack of shows/movies on it.

You'll just end up cancelling them in the end when you have nothing to watch

No idea what Lovefilm is, never heard of it. Netflix has quite a bit of good TV series (depending on what you're into). Some of the stuff they have that I actively watch/have wathced:

X-Files, Star Trek(TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY), Avatar The Last Airbender, Battlestar Galactica, Psych, Burn Notice, The IT Crowd, The Office US/UK, Buffy TVS, Black Books, Stargate SG-1, Red Dwarf, Firefly, South Park, American Dad, King of the Hill, etc.

And now that we have season 7 of Futurama on, I'm even happier.

Oh hell I must have missed that. That is awesome!

I've had Netflix for a few years now and use it regularly. Of course it helps that I had my cable tv disconnected...got tired of paying for something I wasn't using. And now that we have season 7 of Futurama on, I'm even happier.

I watched Heroes on Netflix, then I cancelled due to a lack of interest in other shows and B rated movies. I really wanted to watch Batman Returns. The only live action Batman film Netflix had was the Adam West Shark Repellent film.

There are a ton of Movie "apps" out there now. My Roku probably has 50 that I can sign up for. Problem is, to find anything to watch.

Also, with Netflix and others like this, they seem to offer only some of their library each month or so.

I have Netflix as well and I use it everyday. I don't see a point in having cable at this point in my life (I can go two floors up in my apartment complex and go to my cousins apartment, he has cable. Still I don't ever do that.) There are enough TV shows that keep me occupied.

I have Netflix and use it almost everyday on my Xbox. I love it. There's a lot of things on there I've seen, but there's also just as much, if not more, that I haven't seen. Netflix is great.

I have no idea what Lovefilm is.

How much is a Hulu Plus pass? It says it gets next-day TV shows and that would be quite beneficial for me if it's not too expensive.

Like 8 bucks a month. There are only a few shows I like to watch on there. With some of the newer shows the episodes expire.

That's not bad. It's how much Netflix is. I wish there was a trial they would give you like Netflix has so I can see what Hulu has to offer.

I have netflix and enjoy it. I'd say they tend to have more critically-acclaimed movies than blockbusters (probably due to legal stuff), but they started a contract with Disney and such in which they'll have a tons of more movies in 2014....but like I said...they don't have any many new disney or "big" films right now.

[censored] I'm think of getting both. Only 13 dollars a month...that's like just getting two less burger king meals a month.

Since you mentioned LoveFilm can I assume you're in the UK? If so I'd suggest looking at Netflix and creating a US account - there are FAR more options on that than the UK version.

This

The UK Netflix doesn't have a great selection...start a free account with each, get your 30-day trial, make your choice :)

Some of you seem impatient with Netflix's selection. They do get more streaming stuff over time, it's just very slow to update much. So if you want to see Sherlock episodes, you're going to have to wait a lot longer to see them via streaming Netflix then renting the DVD's somewhere. eg, if a constant $8 a month is too much, you can just get it for a month every 6 months or whatever.

Anyway....I like Netflix streaming for catching up on shows I missed or weren't interested in seeing on network with commercials or the weekly schedule. They're not for keeping up with first-run DVD film releases tho, like mentioned (eg, they're not Blockbuster), and some films never seem to make it on streaming (contract stuff I assume).

Netflix has a much wider range, is cheaper, and has more great television series including season 5 of Breaking Bad. It also commissions new original content, like a drama series starring Kevin Spacey.
Lovefilm has newer films, generally, and a pay-per-view section for new releases.

Personally, I subscribe to Netflix (which we use every single day) and use Blinkbox or xbox marketplace to rent new films.

Wait wait ... what? What's it's called? I must look it up, never heard of it.

...for new/current film releases hubby and I just use Comcast's pay-per-view service. We have the cable already anyway and we only tend to PPV a few times a month, sometimes not at all. So in our case, we don't mind. Not that I'm saying cable is cheap. It's not. We just like the quality and ease of having it all in one bill/service, I guess. Plus hubby still hates the way streaming 'net video looks (motion issues + big screen), and around here peak traffic times often = crap streaming on video streaming sites no matter how awesome your connection. :/

Hmm, It didn't give me an option for a trial when I tried looking at Hulu last time. I'll check it out again though.

It's called House of Cards. It's a very critically acclaimed show. Winning awards and such. I haven't watched it yet but it looks good.
