Should levelling professions like BSEnchantingAlchemy give X

I am loving every bit of the game. I am just only simply annoyed that I can't level my Enchanting or BS without gaining a few levels. I have not even touched the surface of what the game has to offer yet, but am already level 23. My enchanting is level 53 and BS is around 38. I am currently level 23 working on the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves quest lines. I have decided to wait on to the main quest till I reach late 30s / early 40s.

I wasn't planning on power levelling my professions but simply to level it as a "profession", But I simply cannot do that unless I make a conscious effort to stop since gaining a skill level gives a ton of XP.

I think if I could find something negative to say about the game, that would be the only thing. Or even if it did, they could lower the XP gain. Cause right now, I simply gain a level quicker levelling BS and Enchanting than I get from running a few dungeons. But at the same time I don't really want to be a level 30/40 or even 80 with no skill points in BS or Enchanting. Think there should be an even balance.

What are your opinions about it?

Yes. They increase your power (better weapons & armor, better enchants, better buffs & survivability from potions) If they didn't give xp/increase your level, you could gain all sort of power without the game reacting to it. (Yes, the game has level scaling. Whether one agrees with that or not is another topic.)

Personally, I haven't had trouble with professions pushing my level up too quickly. But I haven't done a character that really pushed two professions at once. My first character did Smithing. Did it using materials I found, not bought. Only got my Smithing to 100 at level 48.

(Maybe it's me, but having skills already pumped to 53 & 38 so soon in the game feels like powerleveling. But that's a personal opinion.)

The level is cap is 81.. the soft cap 50, and by the time you hit mid 30s, it'll slow down anyways. Don't worry about it. edit: more specifically, those crafting professions slow down at the 70 mark or so.

Well the irony is that I don't even use the gear/weapons I craft from BS. Drops and the DB/ Nightingale Armour is so much better than anything crafted unless you max out enchanting. I am solely doing it cause I don't want to play catch up at the higher levels. I have not even touched alchemy considering I am an archer and very rarely use poisions on my arrows.

This is my first play through in skyrim so I am not sure what would be considered power leveling at a certain level. Most of my enchanting skill ups have been from disenchanting drops and rewards. I've enchanted a fair few of my BS items that I've sold for a higher price.
