[NO SPOILERS PLEASE] Should I switch to Xbox to play this?

Post » Wed Dec 05, 2012 4:25 pm

I'm a PC player who has been playing Skyrim on the PC since September (I started with the Xbox in March). I've now gotten used to the mods, bugfixes, and superb loading times on the PC. I'm mightily pissed off with the exclusivity thing on the Xbox, especially as the PC players are getting caught up in this console war, and I've read a few non-spoiler posts about people's impressions. The general consensus is that it may be better than Shivering Isles. What I want to know is - should I sacrifice my mods, bugfixes, loading times, superior graphics, console commands, superior controls, superior UI (and generally everything) for 30+ days so I can play the DLC? It will mean I pay for it twice, so be it, it's only 14 quid. Or should I wait indefinitely for the PC release? I don't think I have the mental strength to wait out the 30 days.

I have both Xbox360 and a gaming PC.
And yes, I have TESV:Skyrim on both platforms. Just one opinion but I'd say it's been more than worth it.
I get to experience the games and dlc's on Xbox, all the while imagining what I'll be modding when it comes out on PC.
And I'm very much enjoying this particular dlc. Glitches? Yep. But fixable and more than worth the price of admission.
Hope that helps

I think the DLC is amazing, but I don't know if it's good enough to spend 60+ just for the extra 30 days.

Honestly, as an ex-console player that transitioned to PC and then went back to play Dragonborn on Xbox, I'd really rather the PC version come out today...

I have to ask - is there anything involving the Ancient Falmer, such as Jolgeirr Barrow from Bloodmoon? I'm not asking how much, just a yes or no. Cheers.

Absolutely not. This is precisely what Microsoft wants, you're falling into their trap. The exclusivity deal should be condemned, not encouraged - if you buy the DLC twice, you're telling them that you don't mind and this really isn't the message we should send.

Right now more people are waiting than playing and it's not easy to see the lucky ones praise Dragonborn, but hey, it's not the end of the world. I don't know about you, but I'll be playing Skyrim for the next few years, so I have plenty of time to enjoy the DLC :)

Haven't seen anything yet... but there is a lot of content in this dlc.
The character I'm using is a lvl48 Harbinger who's finished Dawnguard but hasn't started the Skyrim MQ.
So, even without starting the Dragonborn MQ there is plenty of adventuring to be found on Solstheim.
Hope that helps

in reply to you first post: no, there is no reason to go and buy skyrim for 360, then on top of that pay an extra $20 to get dragonborn DLC. Also, you would likely get killed very often in the new DLC because you would need to make a brand new character, unless you plan on pouring hours of time into leveling and gearing up your new character so that he/she can stand a chance against the new enemies...and if that is the case, by the time you get your character to a comfortable level with decent gear/spells/shouts, this DLC will be out for PC anyway.

I have both versions of skyrim and dled this since I got skyrim free, but I prefer pc due to some amazing mods. this dlc is amazing but i'd wait the month for the pc release because there is soooo much modding potential for this. as soon as it comes out I wont touch the 360 version lol.
