Should there be more stage 4 weaknesses?

Post » Wed Jan 23, 2013 12:27 am

What do you think? Or are vampires fine the way they are?

I think that maybe a return to 100% weakness to fire would be a good incentive to feed.

What about sun damage at stage 4? So whenever its light out your health decreases slowly (so it would be better to wait until dark to feed).

I prefer the reverse of vanilla vampirism, with my mod my vampires are

-stronger when fed
-at stage 1 can go out in daylight but none of the powers work and at best (highest rank 400+ bites) regen health/magicka/stamina very slowly
-at any stage other than 1 they take massive sun damage
-Being out of direct sunlight during the day allows me to regen slowly
-at stage 4 I am attacked on sight

I understand the logic behind the reverse but I never liked, thankfully mods have allowed me to have it my way

I'm Caileanmor and I approve this message.

On a side note however, I do think that you can still contract plain old vampirism the old way and get all the weaknesses. You just won't have access to the Vampire Lord form.

I still think the stage 4 attacks should return, but that's just me. Especially since we have these obnoxious flashlights for eyes. OP what would be the bonuses along with more weaknesses? Being a vampire is challenging as is (not that its a bad thing) so you want to balance it out with worthwhile bonuses. One of my main complaints about some vampire mods, some of them have outrageous weaknesses with lackluster powers or bonuses.

Thats why the better vampires mod is awesome since he pretty much gives the player control of the vampire experience you want.

Definitely agree so many options, I like that I need to pay attention to when the last time I fed on my vampires

Feeding should be reversed.

Depends on your lore. TES vampires appear to function, in some ways anyway, in much the same manner that several of the bloodlines in Vampire: The Masquerade function. The consumption of blood is the only thing that keeps them from becoming the monsters that they really are in that universe. If they go without it, their powers increase but their minds become reduced to that of mere animals, in addition to a more grotesque appearance. Some of these bloodlines actively sacrifice their sanity and humanity for power by going without feeding for very long periods of time.

The problem with The Elder Scrolls is it seems like it tries to play both sides of the field. On the one hand, we get this type of lore that is already prevalent in another universe of vampire lore. On the other, it is mentioned that going without blood can cause vampires to become comatose, which seems more in line with the traditional lore. This makes the relationship with blood rather confusing in TES, at least in my eyes anyway.

Well since we going by cryodills vampire strain for a mass majority of the vamps we encounter in oblivion and skyrim, their bloodline according to lore is that they hrow stronger without feeding but lose their ability to blend in wiyhbtheir prey.
Volkier vampires may have differeny stages since each bloodline is different and the rules and such changes according to which bloodline we talking about.
Actually enjoyed skyrims vamps but thought the drain was severly underpowered and that they needed to buff thw drain and it be even in str and weaknesses, dawnguatds vamp lord I havent tried out uet so I dont know how well thats stacks up.

Before moving to PC, the most fun, challenging and overall entertaining character I have made in all of TES, was a Vamipre that was Stage 4 - 24/7. Contracting the disease straight out of Helgen and waiting a week.

It gave the need to actually use strategy and implement the boost from Illusion. It started out as a test, to see if one could actually do quests at S4. Turns out it was my fav character.

As far as Sun damage...I want my character to explode in full Sunlight.

Thankfully, I made the move to PC, before they trashed the mechanics.

That sounds interesting, I may have to try that at some point. Thankfully the alternate start mod allows me to make new characters without having to go through that god awful Helgen scene. I have a real hatred for how most TES games begin, thankfully as far back as morrowind alternate start mods have existed

Indeed. I pair the Vampire start with the Belua Vamp mod when I want to get my fang fix.

I don't know about weaknesses, but I know that they could do something to fill in the void of not having a Stage 3 power for the Vamps...

Every other stage of Vampirism gets a new power/ability... except Stage 3.

Why the missing/open space?
