should vampires have 100% weakness to fire?

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 2:16 am

Should this stage-4 100% weakness to fire return? Perhaps as a incentive to feed? In vanilla it made it so sometimes fighting a dragon would be challenge, exspecially if you wern't a dark elf.

I think 50% weakness to fire at stage-4 isn't big enough, because now dark elf vamps naturally are not weakened by fire at all.

So, you want to be killed by a dragon just because you drink blood? :D

Remember, if this is applied to you when you are a Vampire, it should be also applied to any Vampire. This would make battles against vampires pretty easy.

What should be added -- or rather brought back, as this was in older TES -- is the damage from sunlight. Prolonged exposure would result in a pile of dust.

Yes. It was weird that Serena would only complain about the sun, not die from it.

Being a vampire should require an entirely different approach to the game, and being out only at night is one of them. Having the towns folk wary or afraid or downright hostile (perhaps only generic guards for this) is something I would expect while being a nightwalker.

My main complaint about vampirism is how easily guards detect you, even at night

Definitely at Stage 4, it should be at 100%.

Vampirism is tough enough as it is, maybe make it a little more appealing?

I do. I mean the 100% weakness to fire didn't really faze my vampire character much. Of course she had magic resistance but it was very little and still felt like fireballs bounced right off me. Didn't really see the need to nerf it.

That's why I like vampirism. It has drawbacks. Of course once your high level the drawbacks are nothing with the right enchantments and perks.

but in vanilla the drawbacks outweigh the bonuses severely, also notoriety is done unrealistically

Depends on what type of character your using. My illusionist vampire was a beast. And the 100% weakness to fire felt like nothing to me. Especially since I got a nice 100% immunity to frost. Which, in my game, was the most used spells by enemy mages. I just wish the vampiric drain wasn't so useless even with dawnguard installed.

I was kind of upset when I found out at Stage 4 vampirism no one attacked me all they would say was something about my pale complexion. Enjoyed being a vampire in Oblivion and having to manage my traveling and feeding, but now there is no point.

You can get a mod for better vampire drain on the nexus or Steam if your on the PC.

Playing as a Vampire in Skyrim is way too easy now, no level 4 aggression, Vampire seduction ( just go into a store and get a feed in the middle of the day ), plenty of buffs to overcome weakness, we even get blood potions now incase were forgetfull.

If I'm out in the open on a bright sunny day I want to be scared of the fire breathing dragon but I'm not! About the only thing I find a hinder fighting in the daytime is stamina, but with 20,000 potions at your disposal that's not a problem either.

I'll refer you to the thread in my signature to demonstrate what I think about vampires and their weakness to fire.

Seriously, anyone who wants to talk about vampires and how they SHOULD have been made needs to go to that thread it has some of the bests ideas I have seen as far as Skyrim's vampires go, and werewolves.

Being a vampire was more "realistic" in previous TES games. I put realistic in quotes because, of course, vampires don't exist, so it can only match realism to our understanding of them from books and movies. But then, in Twilight (just saying its name makes me want to puke) vampires can walk around in the sun with no problems at all, and since Twilight has become the most popular vampire movie in the history of vampire movies, perhaps those movies are what games ought to base vampire realism on?

But lets not forget, TES is a console game now. Having to completely change the way you play the game because you choose to be a vampire is not something that most console gamers would enjoy because it may require the use of your brain. If you want realistic vampires you'll have to use mods.

Remembered being Vampire in Oblivion. the sun hurted me SO MUCH!
The fire weakness and daylight nerf is fine. This expansion would be an answer to not make vampires more weak. Or you would ruin for some casual players who bought it.
