Showing off my Necromancer build and my rather unique undead

Great Vid, Loved the thought you have put into the character build.

I have one thought on the shout/spell that raises every dead character/animal in sight. Well If you stay far enough away from a dragon after killing it its soul is not absorbed and the body is still intact until you get close. Have you tried this and then casting that spell/shout to see if it is possible to raise a dragon

Now that would be awsome

I have been playing as a necro for a short while. I only hit Conj100 a few days ago. As a quick background, necros are my favorite character class, and I try to play them in every game I can. Anyway, the first thing I did was to run to a cave in which I had killed a bunch of vampires. I grabbed an "ancient vampire" and raised her with dead thrall. For 3 days have been having endless fun with her. The two of us made short work of an ancient dragon, but the vampire died in the battle. No worries, I just raised her after looting the dragon!

Last night I also grabbed a "master necromancer" for fun, and the three of us will be causing some fun mayham. :)

Really cool. Wish more folks played themed characters (so I could steal their ideas!).

Great video. Just a question, but was it awkward playing as a necromancer and going through Legion questline? I assume you must being that you have Ulfric as a thrall

Not really, I played through that quest-line with the idea that my character had no love for the Thalmor or their ideology and he had decided that supporting the Imperial Empire was the most efficient way of dealing with the threat they posed.

Obviously once I had resurrected Ulfric and his lieutenant, I had to make certain exceptions for the lack of reaction from NPCs. In fact, everyone seems more than happy to see the body of the rebel leader resurrected and forced to fight on my behalf.

I think i may try a necromancer concentrating on Conjuration, Restoration, Alteration, One handed and sneak. Reading up on npc classes, this skill set is the basics for npc necromancers. Looks like sneak will be fun with this class

Playing a Necromancer is by far the most fun playthrough I have done. The Ritual Stone is a MUST, probably the best power in the entire game.

I think it's time to start a pure Conjuror based on what I have seen and read here.

Just curious as to if anyone here uses mods or is on pc ?

The one mod that I will definitely be using is the one with weapons from the third era on nexus.

The mod contains: Staves that can be used in battle (these drop off corpses in the game), or can
be made with smithing.

But to be honest, with a pure mage / necro / build I would rather just find the staves, and enchant them myself.

I had tested the staffs out on another character, and they are definitely cool, and not overpowered at all, but add
to the "mage" flavor of the character build, and you can join the battle with your minions swinging a 2 handed battle staff,

Robes would also be very viable, no armor.....

Master difficulty.

Now to come up with the build:

I am thinking no smithing at all, no heavy, no light .

Use following skills:

Conjuration
Destruction
Speech (flavor / rp)
Illusion
Enchanting
Alchemy
2 handed weapons (self imposed limited to mod for Staffs only)
(for those not on pc, the staves in the game of course add the flavor) or (use daggers for one handed)

no sneaking
no thieve skills except
maybe lockpicking (unless i decide to go all pure, and elminate this and 2 handed weapons.)

Point allocation haven't decided, and will build it as i go.......

NIce video , bud.....................good inspiration.

My one flaw in my necromancer build was relying too much on illusion. You really don't need illusion.

All you really need is a destruction spell and/or a good weapon. Create a corpse, resurrect it, rinse and repeat. Don't worry about looting, just cause mayhem with whatever dead is around you.

BTW, the most rewarding zombies are ancient vampires. THEY KICK ASS SO MUCH.

This reminds me...

Looting gold and valuable items from your chosen minions is all well and good, but if you take their armour/weapons, then they obviously won't be as effective in combat. It's difficult to outfit the minions in new gear, so choosing them on the basis of the gear they already have is a good idea.

Great video thanks for sharing.

I have more of a necromancer/assassin hybrid

Soren Crow-Eye
Nord, Male

Primary Skills: One Handed (dual wield), Conjuration (necromancy tree), stealth
Secondary: Light Armor, Smithing (want the cool armor)

My main tactic is to sneak until I am noticed and then raise the nearest corpse and engage in melee.

I don't really see the point in a necromancer in a game where mobs scale & don't give exp.

Edit: But to each their own, of course.

Sounds like an interesting mix.

I guess you have to avoid using the permanent minions? I can't imagine them being too subtle when you're sneaking around...

Sneak would be incredible with a Necromancer build, and I would totally do it if I wasn't currently having a full blown love affair with Heavy Armor and tanking :(

Yes! This!

Like I said in my above post, I am currently in an absolute love fest with Heavy Armor and tanking, but a Necromancer / assassin hybrid is such an appealing build that I've been wanting to play forever, I just can't bring myself to give up the plate armor. :(

Once you get to sufficient skill levels/shouts you don't have to sneak around around anymore.

Oddly enough, you don't have to sneak around at all as an illusionist/necromancer, even though illusion really benefits sneaky types.

Edit: But to each their own, of course.
In a game where mobs scale, necromancers scale exactly the same. Necromancy also gives the most skill increases out of all conjuration skills, you gain a skill point for every corpse you raise until you reach the highest levels.

I tried out a pure necromancer breton and for some reason didnt enjoy it. I was using a little destruction, but found even exploring Bleak Falls was too annoying. I had to raise a draugr quick to help me and hope he wouldnt drop before i reached the next set of enemies. The final Draugr i had to take on solo and wasnt a good outcome
