Silent noise from speakers

Post » Sun Jun 17, 2012 12:11 pm

Sometimes I can hear a very silent noise, in the form of voices speaking, coming from the speakers of my computer. It sounds kinda like either a talk show or a commercial. However, no matter if I turn the volume up or down, the sound neither decreases or increases. Unless of course if I shut off the speakers entirely, then the sound cease.

I think this only occurs when I have Google Chrome open.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? :P

I swear I've experienced this before. It's probably just insanity kicking in - dont worry, you'll get used to it :obliviongate:

Nope, and I have chrome open right now.

It's probably just ghosts though, you will be fine. :D

Or it's just some static noise and you are perceiving it as voices.

Probably just radio interference. You might be picking up an AM radio show or some other thing being broadcasted via radio waves.

Most interesting theory: Ghosts.
More likely theory: Radio interference.

I have had this a few times over the past few weeks since my Kaspersky Internet security expired, I am using just MSE for now. Kaspersky had a good add blocker and I have been unable to find anywhere in any of the tabs I have opened any indication of where the add is coming from, but that is all I have assumed it to be. I do not use google chrome however just good old IE

Either that or the voices in my head need stronger medication

Anytime I play TF2 and don't click the occasional ad to "stop" it, it still plays in the background (even when I am at the main menu, it still finishes up.)

I have the same thing happening to my speakers, except I hear "It's hip to be a square", oh I listen to the lyrics. :)

Do you have your mobile phone anywhere near your speakers? This happens to me sometimes with my CD player speakers. If I move my phone away it stops.

Yes. From almost every single speaker. No-one else in my family hears it though.

In addition, I also hear old TV's when they are on (even if volume is turned off). Both have a sort of electrical sparkle sound. Noone else in my family hears that either...

Not sure if that is what you're talking about though.

Like when it's in game mode or something and not playing anything? I hear the same thing.

Simply putting it on, no matter what you're doing with it. :D

Oh, THAT! Okay yes, I know what you mean now. I hear that too. I meant like if a TV is on game mode or something (usually old TVs because no one in my house knew when they were on because the game mode is just a black screen) I'll hear that it's on. It's like a very faint buzzing sound.

Exactly! A sort of electrical, buzzing, sparkling sound.

I've seen reviews of speakers on Amazon saying they sometimes pick up radio, probably that.
