Silver Swords question

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 8:48 am

Is anyone else slightly frustrated that you aren't able to upgrade silver weapons via blacksmith? It makes Zero sense as to why you can't upgrade them, i feel kind of cheated. And for anyone who claims it's because it's enchanted then no, the "especially effective against undead" would be due to the material of the weapon and should not constitute an enchanted item.

Bethesda, please explain?

Are you sure that effect is due to the silver?

They messed up? It's annoying. There aren't a lot of good looking two handers.

It should say "especially effective against werewolves" in the first place.

It seems a bug/oversight, easily fixed with a mod if you're on PC. If you're not that svcks becuase I doubt this ranks high on their to do list.

How about the fact that silver swords can be transformed into random enchanted daedric weapons.

Silver sword, ebony ingot, daedra heart, and a soul gem (filled, at least greater) makes a daedric weapon

I guess that's cool, but he's asking about a way to make silver weapons more effective.

Unless this method you bring up transforms stats only, but leaves the silver weapon skin... daedric weapons are :yuck:

It would be a pretty simple fix on PC with the amount of modders in the community, but on console it's a different story.
If enough people spoke up (complained) about the issue I'm sure Bethesda could correct it pretty easily with a patch..
Whatever the reason, Bethesda really needs to fix this.

I am also a bit sad there are only swords. Axe and blunt weapons would be cool IMO.

It's annoying. Anyway I think it has something to do with that effect the weapons has. Silverswords, Wuuthraad and Ghost Sword all has some kind of constant effect/enchantment and all of them you are unable to upgrade or add on weapon racks etc.

Ghostblade can be upgraded for me... Silver can't which seems weird with the silver ingots we got so I'm pretty sure it's an oversight.

If all they can boast is being more effective against werewolves, then they are useless anyway, as there are none to kill in Skyrim. If you are looking for a good weapon against undead, get http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Dawnbreaker. It can be upgraded easily. It won't have the damage of some other 1H swords, but the proc is pretty fun in Nordic dungeons.

They boast a damage increase to both werewolf's and the undead, but their useless because they don't have the ability to be upgraded.

You can increase damage with a sneak attack 6 to 12x's. The silver is effective against the undead this way.

Um, you wouldn't happen to be on a PC? If you are, there's a mod for that. If not, I'm sorry.

Either way, I agree. It makes no sense and Bethesda should have allowed them to be upgradable since the beginning. If nothing else, it would help keep them relevant. So they get a bonus against undead? Great! Too bad other weapons can be improved to the point that they are even better against undead!
