What's better to use as a battlemage necromancer :


1 hand weapon + spell

or

1 hand + staff

I think it depends on what you have that's most powerful at the time. I wouldn't limit yourself to one or the other, but rather use a mix of both depending on the situation. Good luck! It sounds like an interesting build.

For the purpose of levelling Conjuration rapidly without spamming Soultrap on a corpse, Bound Sword in Right Hand, use the left hand for casting everything else.
Use a Staff only in a life or death situation, because Your character lacks Magic to cast anything else, or if it can cast a Summon/Spell that is beyond the current Skill level of Your character, Paralyze, and Storm/Frost Atronachs are good examples of using a Staff, The Sanguine rose is going to be Your second or third favorite Weapon.
