Indeed. I found him outside of Windhelm once halfway into the ground, "playing dead" one time

I found him just outside of Whiterun (near one of the Giant camps) buried halfway in the ground, dead. I could still talk to him and hurt him though.

It's a known fact that he and Louis Letrush commune with Daedra.

I've never run into Louis after I took Frost from him. And I've not been back to Jorrvaskr since he died.

can you send him back to the hunting grounds or is he still essential?

I was messing around one day inside jorvaskr and i transformed into a werewolf, beasted on everyone, feasted on some and not a single person attacked me...i wonder if its because they have so much respect for the new harbinger or fear my power
