I am playing through the Companions quest-line for the first time since my very first playthrough way back when. I never really paid much mind to Skjor before, most likely because he...well, only plays a part in the early going of the story.
I think this was a huge mistake. Yet another way in which they took one step forwards and two steps back in so many aspects of this overall awesome game.
Skjor, I found, is a cool, well VO'd character, that has at least some kind of a back story that he talks about that I found at least mildly interesting and advlt. They could have set him up to play such a bigger and better role in the story of the Compainions.
For example, they could have set him up as a renegade (well they kinda already did), but they could have made it so that his disdain for the way Kodlak is "throwing away" the "gift" grows into open rebellion that causes a power struggle in the Circle in which only one side can emerge from.
This would have been great for three reasons that come to mind:
1. Would have made the quest line/faction MUCH more interesting.
2. Would have added some great replay value to the quest line.
3. Would have made the player in this R-P-G make a CHOICE that has CONSEQUENCE...perish the thought.
The more I play this game the more I have to say it's not really an RPG, but an action game with alot of RPG elements. I still love the game, don't get me wrong, but I like a little more RP'ing in my RPG's.
