skyforge steel: OP

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 8:01 am

Is it just me or are skyforge steel weapons terribly OP when considering their early access/availability, super low price and super low cost of improvement via smithing? Saddens me a bit that the first weapon I get after the imperial sword I found at the start of the game is the best one available until ebony or better starts showing up and I barely had to do anything to get it.

smithing also seems to be OP, especially considering how easy it is to level via iron dagger forging.

On a side note, the game is awesome =P

I found weapons that were better than skyforge, the elven sword I have now is better.

I'm pretty sure skyforge steel sword and elven sword do the exact same damage.

They can't possibly be more OP than silver gear found basically on every guard in oblivion? Or are they better than those? (in comparison to oblivions early on items?).

Uh, no? Skyforge steel seemed just fine to me. *shrugs*

It seemed like an incremental, well deserved upgrade, not a stratospheric boost akin to what switching to a new damage spell can offer.

steel to skyforge is a significant boost (8 to 11 dmg). Like I said, it matches elven for damage, costs 30% what elven costs, is far cheaper and easier to upgrade (steel ignots, only needs 1st point in smithing tree) and it's available far sooner.

The sword when you first get it has the same damage as a fine dwarven waraxe, and at superior it does 33 damage

When you use exploits, anything can be OP

How much damage does a 'superior' normal Steel Waraxe do? And at what level is your one-handed skill? And have you chosen any additional perks? Most likely yes. I want to know the early on stats, not the 90 one-handed and 4 damage increasing perks chosen-damage. Because this topic does talk about it's OP'd-ness early on, which is what we should be ficusing on.

It's a kind of steel you can forge weapons from. You can get access to it from one of the Companions missions.

I'm not sure what a steel waraxe does damage wise but my One-handed right now is 64 and I do have a couple perks that increase damage so that might make it lopsided

I killed a incredebly OP npc on some moutain ridge somewhere, his loot was a ebony war axe..

I am happy with it... lol..

I dual wield the old but strong Blades saber, and the war axe now. Or if i am battleling a very strong NPC i use my dwarven shield (upgraded my block skill good)

im more a tank than a damage dealer that way, but single handed killed me some very big frostdragons that way..
