My Skyrim achievements bug

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 8:13 am

Hey guys/girls, im having this problem. I should of mentioned it 2wks ago. I was one of the beta testers for Dawnguard. Had I known there was going to be a problem w/ my total achievements for Skyim + Dawnguard. I kind of wish I wasn't a tester to just avoid this hassle. My issue is, when I click "my achievements" for Skyrim. It reads 49/60 - 930 GS. But when I compare w/ my friends, it reads 55/60 - 1110 GS. Does anyone might have a possible solution? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

P.S. I apologize if I wrote this in the wrong section of the forum.

That happened to me on other games
You could recover your gamertag and it will undo those achievements allowing you to re achieve them

I've never recovered my gamertag before. So im curious, it won't effect any of my game saves? Also when you say "re achieve" like it'll automatically unlock those or will I have to manually unlock them again?

I know Halo 3 had a problem of not showing the Legendary achievement for up to a month before it would show correctly. That may be the case here.

1) When you recover your Gamertag, you have to delete your profile.

2) Then, when the Xbox prompts you to sign in another profile, choose the option to "Recover Gamertag/Profile".

3) Put in your WLID and Password, and let the Xbox re-download your Gamertag from it's Official version which is stored on LIVE's servers.

The problem is that you had achievements before they were Officially recognized by (or even on) Xbox LIVE's servers. The profile on your Xbox is only a shadow of the actual profile on their servers, so when you unlock achievo's the two versions "talk", and the achievo is unlocked for all to see. Since they weren't online before, but you still unlocked them on your Box, there's a mix up in the "conversation", so you need to reclaim your Gamertag to get them back on the same page.

Only problem is that since the LIVE servers have no record of you unlocking those achievo's associated with Dawnguard, your newly reclaimed profile won't have them unlocked either.

So once you reclaim your Gamertag, you'll have to unlock them all over again. A bunch of Beta testers (including myself) have already done this, and I didn't think that the process was too horrible. It's mostly just time consuming. But I'm back at 60/60 after a couple of days worth of work, so I'm good.

Hope this post helps dispel your fears.

I know that you have to watch the entire End Credits (including the Legendary ending) for it to show up for Halo 3. It's considered part of the achievement (for whatever reason...).

Okay I just finished recovering my profile. Kind of took a while since I forgot my pw. Had to create a new one off Windows Live. After that, while viewing my skyrim achievements I noticed that it now reads 50/60 - 990 G. The only Dawnguard achievement it counted was Auriel's Bow 20 G (unlocked 6/27/2012). I forgot when this dlc was released to the public. Anyways, thanks for your help & the steps . Your right, it'll be time consuming. But I enjoy playing Skyrim. So its okay.

You get no sympathy from me, a self-proclaimed "tester" who got the beta and had no intention of testing.

Lol alot of the people that got picked for the beta didn't test it, it made alot of people mad, i was picked and found atleast 1 game breaking bug and a few little minor ones. Anyway i also have a problem with the achievements, i have all of them but when i look at the number and the points it doesn't say i have them all but when i actually got to the achievements list it shows all of them completed. It's not really that big of the deal but i just thought i would post it since it's fits the topic.

Am I reading his post wrong, or did they actually say that? Or has they said that somewhere else?

He didn't actually say he didn't test and if he loves Skyrim he probably did test so lets cut him some slack

did you use a cloud save? I'm wondering if this is the cause or if its a skyrim bug because this happened to me pre-dawnguard. I had most of the schievements then all of a sudden they were wiped out and now when i get them back the numbers don't match up until i open the achievement folder

I don't think they fixed the issue until a few hours after Dawnguard released on Live. All the achievements I got right off the bat don't show as complete unless I view the list.

Nor would I want it lol and you shouldn't assume things. Actually I have, several minor bugs and 1 major bug (that prevented me from completing my DG mainquest for a day). I mentioned it in the Restricted Forum. Being a first time tester, I had no idea once you unlock the achievements. You had to recover your profile and unlock 'em again after release date. I only said I regret it because of the hassle. And if it makes you feel any better, had I not been a tester. I would of gladly paid $20 USD for it. Spending money on Bethesda games or DLC, is not a big deal to me. As a fan, I would gladly do what I can to support my fav developer .
