Skyrim and Me

Post » Thu Dec 13, 2012 7:02 pm

I remember going to the midnight release of Skyrim at a local gaming store. I remember my fiance glaring at me the entire night because I had dragged her out into the cold. Despite that, the memory of that night is a good one for us, a happy memory we made together.

Over the past year, I've played Skyrim for more hours than I will every admit to in public. I've played late nights and early mornings. Skipping class so I could finish this one last quest. I have moments while playing Skyrim that made me laugh until my sides hurt, and moments that made me more angry than a frost troll being shot with a Flames spell.

I've also been diagnosed with several severe anxiety disorders that make my life difficult, to say the least. However, Skyrim has been my refuge. It has been that one thing I can always look forward too, no matter how bad or scary the real world gets.

My point of this post is to thank the people at Bethesda for Skyrim. To thank all those who made Skyrim what it is to me; a place of fun, excitement and, in my humble opinion, of the greatest games I have ever played. Its not perfect game, but nothing ever is.

I am unsure if this is the proper place to leave such feedback, but tonight I was feeling generous and decided to give voice to that by saying thank you to those I think deserve it.

Thank you for Skyrim. Thank you for my place of refuge.
