I don't under stand why would anyone play in anything else, no risk, no challenge generally means little fun. I mean yeah I could play on easy and spam lighting and win, or you know play hard and have to think about positioning and using more then one spell, ya know, tactics.

I find that the harder settings had me thinking tactically. Utilising traps, using oil slicks. Hell, I was running away from 3 dudes, came across a giant spider carcass and "raise dead"-ed it in order for it to kill them. Good times!

I am still waiting for my copy of Skyrim (the shop ran out of Skyrims :sadvaultboy: ), so how easy it is to die in the game with normal difficulty?

I have been thinking of playing as Dead is Dead, so that is why I am interested.

I play master level. I was freaking out as I hid three feet away from a super strong bandit. I was right behind the pillar and had to pull a squirrel maneuver to stay hidden.

This game is awesome. :)

Love how people brag about the difficulty level they're on.

It's quite easy to die on normal difficulty. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either lying or hasn't explored much of the gameworld. Certainly at level 10 and below there's a lot of creatures in the gameworld that you just won't be able to beat without some kind of cheat or exploit.

The harder difficulties are more enjoyable for regular playthroughs, but i'm not sure if i'd recommend anything beyond normal for a dead is dead playthrough. At least not until you're familiar with the game.

I admit adept banits are pretty easy but on the highest difficulty how is it even possible to harm a frost troll?

I play on default. If I want to play a tough game I'll play Demon's Souls/Dark Souls. Elder Scrolls is my chill time.

Thanks for the reply, He-Man. I was planning to play on Normal since Dead is Dead with way too hard difficulty isn't as enjoyable.
How difficult are the dragons? My friend who is around level 8-10 has already beaten one with the aid of a companion.

Fighting frost trolls on master has resulted in many dead companions :sadvaultboy:

Dragons are disappointingly easy in my opinion. I've killed 7 already without any real problems (admittedly, 2 or 3 were quest-related, with NPCs helping out but the rest were random encounters).

It seems almost to me like dragons are scaled to my character's level, while every other creature in the gameworld isn't. Maybe I just haven't ran into any high level dragons yet...

What a shame. However It will make my possible Dead is Dead playthrough more possible. :celebration:

It's very easy to die on normal if you pick a fight with the wrong creature, get mobbed in an unfortunate location or attempt a quest you're not really ready to complete.

The sliders are there to fine tune things but it's probably better to understand what you're doing first before messing with the fine controls.

I start the game with master setting (mainly because I know nowadays the hardest setting is comparable to moderate/difficult setting on older games... gamers got babied nowadays :P) and just recently changed to second hardest setting... not because it's too hard but because the difference between the settings (seems like it anyway) is just bigger opponents HP and their hit becomes much stronger too... At Master setting the mini bosses like bandit chief can two-hit kill you and it's very hard to tank them that way, no matter what your "counter" maybe it will always comes down to running around while you heal yourself after getting a single hit (because the second one is likely to kill you) while your companion and whatever minions you might have hitting him... that's basically it, hit, when you get hit get some distance to heal yourself, jump in to hit again and honestly it's tedious... I rather have the enemies have better AI at higher setting than simply overpowered (easy example would be the hit and run tactic, you can do this again 3 enemies by focusing on downing one of them and raising the killed one to be your minion... the whole time I just hit, run, hit, run... MAYBE if the AI smart enough to, say, having 2 of them change to a ranged weapon while one keep chasing me then I'd be dead or try to close the path i'm running to... as it is there really is no difference between the difficulty settings, the only difference is how fast you can kill them and how much potions you'd have to use to keep yourself up until you kill them

I'm playing on master as a mage/archer kind of character and I must say that during the 5 or 6 levels it was really tough, I made so little damage to a frost troll it regenerated before my next shot.

But I just ran away and honed my skills until level 12, now I can take 'em down, one hit still means death though so tactics is vital.

Ill give it a try on my first playthrough but I might put it on 3/4 so I don't get trashed everytime I attack something
