Skyrim can't be pre-ordered in Hungary?

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 5:36 am

Okay, so since I can't pre-order it, then that means it is not even available, then what the hell I'm going to do with the Collectors Edition, if it requires Steamworks, then it required Steam activation, no?

Then seriously, how the hell I'm going to activate my copy?

I feel you man. Same stuff in my country - can not buy it on steam.

So i did the next best thing, ordered retail copy, but yes i too am afraid it will not activate, no idea what to do in that situation.

Pity i am no lawyer, should be easy enough to sue the crap out of someone for discrimination based on where you live, we'r all in European union after all.

Relevant legislation just allows local vendors to sell products from elsewhere in the EU, but it doesn't force anyone to sell you the game. You are free to buy anywhere too, of course...

Yeah, because every country is in the Union. Besides, the fact that it's even possible to sue/arrest someone in another country for a law in your own country shows how screwed up EU really is.

Nadya, I feel you, I too want to play the game in english, subbed, not completely dubbed, although Fallout 3's dub was quite good for a spanish dub.
Off Topic: Regards from Catalonia :foodndrink:

Edit: I'm not totally sure, but I think we can change the language in Steam. Let's cross our fingers.

It is more like because of [censored] distributor companies.

You can actually do what I did, go to direct2drive.co.uk and order it from there. You get an activation key via e-mail and you can register - and preload now - on Steam.

Ps.: I am also from Hungary.

Same here, I'm from Estonia and Steam wouldn't let me pre-order. The only way I got mine is because a super-generous person gifted it to me through Steam, so now I have Skyrim shown in my games library with the pre-load option and everything. So I think that for everyone else, either pre-ordering a retail copy or having it gifted to you should allow you to unlock the game on Steam :)

It is probably not steam's fault.
It is most likely Bethesda has made an agreement with retailers in Hungary to not sell online versions of the game to Hungary. So Steam is not allowed to sell it.
I am basing from my experience with Impulse, another digital game distribution software. They told me it is due to developers or publishers that some games are not available for my region.

We need more information from you. Do Hungary retail shops sell Skyrim?

There is a possibly that it is due to laws, but that seems unlikely because Skyrim and Witcher 2 (mature games) are sold to me, yet Dirt 3 is not available for my region.

But, despite Dirt 3 not being available to me on Steam, I bought a Sapphire HD6970 graphics card that gave me a free Dirt 3 game. I registered it and it is available on my Steam for download.

Hope it helps.

So you mean, if I buy it on the release date, in the shop, well personally I will buy the TES5: Skyrim Collectors Edition, so it will be in my language or in English? And so, after I will be able to activate it on Steam?
