Skyrim cannot be installed yet...

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 10:02 am

Okay, I just picked up my pre-order of the PC version. Giddy with excitement, I try to install it onto my computer, but am greeted with a message from Steam:

"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim cannot be installed yet, because it is not yet released"

Awesome, that's fantastic!

/sarcasm

So the question begs, when will we be able to install the game exactly???

Seems a bit ridiculous since I own the physical copy right here in my hands...

You will be able to install the game when it has been released. Did you even read that message?

I have my copy from Direct2Drive sitting all pretty on my desktop teasing me at this very moment with the same exact message! But I think we can install it @ 12:01 AM EST 11/11/11. That will be 9:01 PM PST 11/10/11 for me. Dont quote me on that cuz I'm not 100% sure on that.

It unlocks after midnight for each time zone.

Thought I seen something that said that Steam was not gunna use people's time zones but rather go off 1 time zone only(EST). Wish I could remember where I seen that.

Edit: I have waited for what seems like for ever so if I must wait until 12:01 PST 11/11/11 to play then that is no biggy to me really. That is the official release date so I'm cool either way. I'm just glad to actually have Skyrim actually on my PC.....OMG!

Someone else has tried this, it doesn't work.

I'm happy to wait for it to be released officially, was just unsure of it's exact timing as I haven't been following closely.

Because Steam must activate your cd key before you can play any of the steamworks games.

Your computer needs to communicate with the Steam servers to install and activate it. It doesn't care what time it is or whether it's connected after that. It's designed not to rely on your system time, so you can set that back to 1978 if you want and it will still work. It won't let you cheat the time.
