Skyrim Christmas update

Post » Mon Nov 12, 2012 10:49 pm

Maybe create a fantasy festival in Tamriel to prevent people from other faiths being offended. Not a huge update , maybe just lights , candles , Christmas trees in all towns and cities with maybe some new lines from npcs and a small story , like the Jarl's Christmas party needs protection and some other small quests. The festival could be devoted to the divines. What do you think? It would be free , like bethesda's christmas present to us ;). What do you think?

No.
1) there is no Christmas in TES.
2) There are plenty of other religions on our globe.

While a holiday update would be interesting, Tamriel has its own separate list of holidays.

Now I dont know what they are specifically, but I dont think any are similar to christmas.

Any lore experts around who know?

It does ? :0 They should make more use out of them. I just think a holiday update would brighten things up.

There may very well be a Christmas-like holiday in TES. That aspect of Tamriel has never been fully explored. Hell, its only been explored in Daggerfall (and Arena, I think).

TES already has a holiday on December/Evening Star the 25th, which is Saturalia.

The New Life festival comes a few days early in Wayrest with Saturalia, traditionally held on the 25th of Evening Star. Originally a holiday for a long forgotten god of debauchery, it has become a time of gift giving, parties, and parading. Visitors are encouraged to participate.

Even though it does resemble some solstice celebrations, and almost shares a name with the roman festival Saturnalia, it's still a holiday for itself, and not some kind of knockoff.
Point of the story: making up new holidays for your fantasy world is usually better, and more creative than importing from Earth.

It sounds very... MMO-ish, to be honest. I would like to see Tamrielic Holidays added to the calender, but no real world traditions carried over(Christmas trees).

I think Uncle Sweetshare on Solstheim is about as close as you'll get to christmas stuff in Tamriel, and he was...not very close at all.

Of course, we must remember that the mayans counted leap years differently, so the world actually already ended.

Just for the record, I don't take these end of the world prophecies seriously (but then, I don't think the vast majority of people do these days, or at least I hope so....).

I was in my mid-teens by the time the whole Y2K scare started up, not particularly old but old enough to understand what was going on as well as the implications if it were true, even then it surprised me how much people put weight into these sorts of things.

The Mayans.
The mayans never said the world is going to end at that date ^^ Just a big joke made by media to earn moneyz

And why would mayans be able to decide and know whenthe world is going to end hah.
