skyrim combat

Well, i've been playing skyrim for a couple of days now, and it's clear to me that if anything, the combat is more broken than it was in oblivion. It's unresponsive, slow and the lack of ability to block in almost all circumstances is utterly stupid.

So let me make plain now - I WILL be making another extensive combat mod, albeit with slightly different priorities. Obviously it's hard to know what will be possible till I get my mucky paws on the CK, and a look at the scripting language. UV wouldn't have been possible without OBSE, so here's hoping the CK at least has keypress detection...

In the short term, one challenge will be converting some of UV's animation assets into a skyrim friendly form. The new animations are not .kf files, so first question - does anybody know how to convert between .kf and the new format? (i'm at work now and the extension escapes me). I'm assuming this will be possible since they're both based on nif files. If that's feasible then it makes the next step a lot easier.

The combat needs a lot of work but I doubt you get it much more fluint
Imo the first thing that needs to be done is some sort of reaction when the player and enemies get hit, all there is now for the player is some umphff sound and some blur in first person
but in third person nothing actually happens, guys just keep hitting eachother but they dont react, what I would like to see is some sort of minor stagger on impact for both the player and the enemies, this would make it more realistic only downside to this is that when the player is being attacked by a group he might stay in that staggering state...
