Skyrim DLC#2 "HeartFire"

Post » Wed Aug 22, 2012 5:15 pm

So there is rumors going around about the second DLC, apparently it is called Heartfire and the story is related to Necromancy.

All I can say is, please Bethesda, do 2 things for your fans, for your consumers.

1) Finish the damn PS3 version of the first DLC before screwing us over again with the second one.

2) Make some DLC that gives us a new experience from the original game, Dawnguard was good, but it wasn't that much different from the original game, ooooo vampires, I killed plenty of them during my initial 100 hours of gameplay, why do I want to buy DLC to go kill more of them?

Also, Vampires....Necromancy.... these things are the same tone/style? Your previous DLC from previous games was fantastic, try keeping that up. Look at F3 for example, playing out a battle from the past through a VR machine, being abducted by aliens, becoming an inmate at a notorious post apocalyptic jail, and finally finishing the battle between the brotherhood of steel, and the enclave. You finished it off in the perfect way!

I hope the rumors are wrong, and that the next DLC is going to offer some brand new and awesome adventure, or hey, EVERYONE wants to finish the war between the Thalmor and the Empire maybe let us lead the front lines in said war? That would be the freakin' best DLC ever.

Im going out on a limb here and im gonna say you're on ps3... but by your own statement, how would releasing the second dlc here in a few months time(which is probably being too hopeful) be screwing you over? especially if you dont even want the first dlc. also why demand that they continue doing what they are trying to do? just because 1.7 didnt have ps3 fixes in it doesnt mean they completely gave up on your console. The next bunch of fixes are probably going to be released to you guys when they finish dawnguard.

But yes a war with the thalmor would be awesome.

I hope its a Daedric Realm.. Didn't like Dawnguard.. Since for me it was short and the areas added in were used for like one quest.. Although I loved the Crossbow..

If its not a Daedric Realm add in new lands.. Like High Rock.. Morrowind or parts of it.. I just want land..

Ok, I'm sorry, I know this is off topic, but are you really referencing FO3 as having good DLC? Operation Anchorage was a rip-off, The Pitt would have been too if not for that ammo conversion machine, and Broken Steel was all either [censored] that should have been in the original game or just tacked on missions. The only DLC from FO3 I found to be worth while was Point Lookout (I often refer to it as "the Shivering Islse of Fallout") because it added a large, open map area (key word: open) unlike the others. Disclaimer: I never played Mothership Zeta so I can't say anything about that.

On topic: I do believe (and this is what the rumors are supporting) that Beth should do like in Oblivion and have the second DLC be some big new area comparable to TESIV:SI.

I do agree that a DLC focusing on necromancy would definitely be redundant, but I feel I can trust Beth not to do something that stupid. As for the Thalmor idea, I'm pretty sure that needs to happen. Unless they want to save the Thalmor for TESVI, I'm pretty damn sure we'll be getting something relating to the Thalmor in some DLC.

Hearthfire as the name of the next DLC is rather old news, and there is no evidence that it's about Necromancy, only speculation on the meaning of the name (Hearthfire is an Elder Scrolls month, and in that month is a Necromancy related celebration, that's it) and a wild guess that it'll be released during Halloween and thus be undead-themed.

A few days ago a "leak" was presented that Hearthfire will feature extensive house building/customization. That one seemed more trustworthy than this almost completely random guess(!) that Hearthfire will be about Necromancy.

Truth is, we have absolutely no clue at all. Many educated guesses about Dawnguard before we had official information also turned out to be complete nonsense.

I hope Hearthfire is a new experience and hopefully original. As Dawnguard wasn't really anything new. I mean It was all about ranged weapons and vampires (although some of it was pretty nice), it paid little attention to the other fighting styles not to mention half the quests didn't work.

F3 DLC wasn't all that great. I liked BS and PL but the others weren't as great.

How about an Old World Blues style DLC that is funny and comedic? I would love to see something like that.

While I am on PS3 and would like to see Dawngauard released soon I really don't mind waiting til they get it sorted out properly,I am still enjoying the stuff I haven't done yet.As far as a war with the Thalmor, that sounds awesome,I hated those guys from the start, specially Ancano, that superior attitude of his drove me nuts and I really wanted to do a hack/slash on him right from the start!

Or like Shivering Isles! I swear, half the people on this forum seem to have played FO before TES...

I figured :/

To the naysayers: I found DG to add plenty of new experience to the game. If your opinion of DG boils down to "killing vampires," I don't believe you played it. Soul Cairn, The Forgotten Vale, Atherium, all of these locations/related quests add a lot to the lore of the game, especially The Soul Cairn IMO. Besides that, they actually did a really good job of having dual quest lines that didn't just feel mirrored like in the civil war quests.

Not that you asked, but yeah, I never could get far into Oblivion. I played Morrowind thoroughly and FO3 a bit. But FONV is one of my favorite games of all time. Skyrim is too!

So Shivering Isles was funny and comedic? That is interesting to hear, I still might check it out some day.

To be honest.. Shivering Isles is probably better than Oblivion itself.. I played more in shivering Isles than I did outside the realm..

Actually, one of the books in the 2920 series is a necromancy skill book, which is where that rumour originated (with a Youtube video about the leak). Of course, the book isn't ABOUT the month of Hearthfire and the series isn't about necromancy. Tales and Tallows is the most notable holiday in Hearthfire, and it's about magic in general.

I admittedly haven't played Dawnguard yet, but you know the Soul Cairn was in battlespire, right?

I guess not to the same extent as OWB, but yes, especially with all of Sheogorath's dialogue. Actually, come to think of it, I guess most of the comedy in OWB was in the dialogue with the think tank/S.I.N.K. inhabitants, so yeah, I'd put it on par with OWB. Different style obviously.
