Skyrim Dlc Opinions

Post » Sat Dec 29, 2012 6:42 am

Ok I've been putting off buying Skyrim dlc for a long time now and I'm planning to finally get them. Before I do I want to ask your opinion on each one to see maybe which ones are a must buy or possibly skip. No spoilers please I've kept myself spoiler free this whole time and would rather it not get ruined now :goodjob: . I would also like to ask if the dlc has come out on disk yet because I have a habit of deleting things off my hard drive that I won't play for a while and I like having the option to reinstall it whenever I want.

I play on 360 and started with Oblivion and bought Shivering isles and Knights of the nine for it(on disk so I could reinstall whenever I wanted) if any of this information helps.

Edit: I've gotten the information I need and I'm buying dawnguard and dragonborn. If you want to post your thoughts anyway go ahead.

Have you thought perchance to do a search for any number of reviews posted since, or would you like us to do that for you as well?

And no, the DLC's have no been released in disc format as of this time.

It's not like there are 10 DLCs you can choose from lol.

Dawnguard and Dragonborn is great. Hearthfire is skippable, but it's only five bucks, so...

Yea I've looked at reviews but I'd like some opinions of people I know a little around here. Their opinions carry more weight to me.

Maybe later on I can tell you where to eat for dinner as well.
Dawnguard: It's good. Vampire Hunters vs Vampires in a race for a weapon that belonged to a god. Buy it.
Hearthfire: Decent. Cheap. Build a house, adopt kids. Lots of iron involved. Buy it.
Dragonborn: Nostalgia city. Contend with the first Dragonborn who's brainwashing people. A lovecraft fans wetdream. Buy it.

My opinion is simple- one should investigate the material, and maketh the decision upon themselves based on their own merit and facts, rather than relying on the council of those whom you do not meet in flesh on a regular basis. We cannot, and in my opinion, should not, tell you how to spend your money. That is a call you must make on your own.

Not asking people to tell me to buy them. I'm asking if you enjoyed them and would recommend them(which you seem to) or not for some other reason(glitches). From my very first sentence in my OP I said I'm already planning to buy them.

Then do so, and be done with it.

You can skip Hearthfire if you're not interested in house building and adoption. The rest is definitely worth buying - Dragonborn more than Dawnguard, I think, as it offers a lot of content beside the main storyline while Dawnguard is focused on its MQ. Still, they're both good.

Vanilla Skyrim basically svcks compared to Skyrim with Dawnguard and Dragonborn.. so get those. Hearthfire is nice but a little too time consuming for what it is.

Yea I was thinking about skipping Hearthfire because it doesn't seem to be worth it though it is cheap. I will definitely try out Dragonborn because people seemed to like it a lot. I'm not sure about dawnguard yet.

With dawnguard I heard something about the vampires attacking towns for no reason, are those much of a problem?

I haven't played Dragonborn (PC player) but I did really enjoy Dawnguard as well as the new gameplay feature it brought such as crossbows, I recommend buying it, Hearthfire, well I could do without it but then the whole idea of building a house was never that appealing to me but I did buy it because it was cheap. If you like the idea of building houses and adopting etc... then go for it but I do recommend Dawnguard, while I'm sure Dragonborn is much better Dawnguard is very good and at a decent price.

I myself have not experienced any issues like that. I do have the Unofficial patch for Dawnguard though so that maybe the reason.

I guess the Cell pic struck a chord.

I'd buy Dawnguard; I've had quite a bit of fun with it.
I'm also not big at all into Vampires, but it just had a nice feel about it.
My personal favorite companion is from this expansion.

I give it a 7.5/10

Yea I probably should've changed my avatar to baby goku or something for this thread.

Thanks it seems dawnguard is much more liked than I'd previously thought. I'm getting excited for it now.

It can be, but with autosave you'll be fine.

Definitely have a few backup saves, I've had a few bugs stop me from progressing even with the latest patch (shocking I know!). I tended to make a new save at the start of every quest just to be certain.

I keep a pretty healthy stock of saves so I'll be sure to be ready. How are the crossbows? Are they better than regular bows?

Slower to reload but stronger, I personally use them more than bows, I just love the sound they make when you fire.

Depends what you want.. although the ability to shoot enchanted bolts is pretty good. Enhanced Dwarven Crossbows will give you the best ranged weapon in the game. It's a weapon that basically all my characters use at some point. Auriel's Bow is a pretty awesome addition as well and an artifact I wanted back initially, although I don't exactly know how it got it's makeover and why it was in the Forgotten Vale opposed to Ghostgate :P
