This is a known problem with several blu-ray (PS3) versions of Skyrim. In the factory, an extra layer of protective plastic was applied to some of the discs causing the disc image to be distorted.
Take the disc out and get some ajax, this will remove the plastic film coating the disc.
After purchasing ajax, pour it on the disk and scrub vigorously with a damp sponge. This will create several *light* scratches on the disc. This is to be expected. These surface scratches will not damage the disc at all.
What it will do is remove the coating allowing you to play the game as normal.
thats an answer i got on yahoo answers, can someonr verify this and tell me its correct? if its something to do with the disk, im not gonna put ajax on it, but i will take it back to the store and get another one.
That... that doesnt sound right at all. Im sorry but if an extra layer of material on the surface of the disk was the issue it would corrupt data, not blur the overall viewpoint, the games display isnt streamed off the disk, its generated by the ps3's GPU, so frankly i think someone was trolling you.
uhh if your asking me what my ps3 is then i think its
HD
HDMI
and i dont think its 720 or 1080, i tihnk its soething like 500 and something. im not at home at the minute and wont be home til tommorow, so i cant check for you. but i tihnk i looked before i left home and it was something around 580 or something like that. that "might" be the problem
By 720/1080 i mean the setting the PS3 Dashboard is set to, when you setup the PS3 it will try to goto the maximum allowed by your tv, in my case my dashboard is 1080p and then downscales to 720 for most games. If your PS3 Dashboard is set to 580, then that suggest thats the maximum your Tv can handle, and that the problem might be one of two things: Either your TV cant support 720 In which case the game/PS3 has to downscale the games resolution (which could lead to the problem). OR.. Your TV can handle 720 yet the PS3 is set to 580 so its converting the skyrim resolution to 580. then trying to upscale it back to 720, leading to a loss.
Its no gurantee and im hardly an expert on the PS3's graphics drivers, but programming for the PS3 myself ive found its very very procedural, for example the second explanation, converting it down and then back up again, it will try to do instead of just recognising that it started as 720, and leaving it at that.
Im not sure if other TV's are the same, but if you have a samsung it will tell you in the corner what the resolution is at the start of the game, check this, if its running in 720, then try setting your ps3 to 720 in the display settings on the dashboard.
If its running in 580, then your PS3 is downgrading the resolution as your TV cant display 720. This COULD be the source of the issue.
