Skyrim Guards need...

to go to Fable Guard school. Now I know that people get mad and upset when people compare games, all though I feel the Fable series is close to comparing with Skyrim. I think the Guards in Skyrim are, well a tad lazy. They want mead, are mad they don't fight dragons, get arrows in their knees. And I just wish there were some guards with different voice options and different personalities. I always found the Guards in Fable unsettling though, as they seemed rather to cheerful for some of the things they talked about.

For example walking around in Fable 2 a Guard says, "I remember my first year of Guard school, cracked a bandit's skull right open," lol. Now I understand the two mediums of Fable are different. Fable is very colorful and filled with lots of humor. And Skyrim is more dark and brooding. But you don't need that much brooding really. Witcher 2 still is brooding with some fun humorous parts. Be nice if Skyrim guards talked more often about whom they smashed or sliced with their swords or greathammers.

Another fun one is, "I'd like to be an adventurer, do you know if the pay is good?" lol. Another Fable guard quote, but a lot better than "I use to be an adventurer like you till I took an arrow to the knee,"

Where are the guards in Skyrim whom actually like their job? Whom tell the funny stories of how they sliced someone in half? I just feel the guards in Skyrim, well to be honest in most of the gamers are carbon copies of each other. And I'm not saying Fable did this any better. But I just wish, we had different guards. Some whom liked their job and some who didn't.

Skyrim guards are Nordic guards.

Nords love bashing people's faces in, killing things, and hacking people in half... that sort of stuff. I don't think a Nordsmen enjoys patrolling a city or town with nothing to do. They want bandits to slaughter, dragons to slay, and thieves to torture.

But not all Nord are like that.
Some have different personality. Just like OP said.
It's small adition, but will improve skyrim greatly.

But a guard job, especially in Skyrim, did not need to be made boring either is another thing I'm saying.

In Fable they took the option of making the Guard job a little fun. Sometimes, guards will stop and look around in Fable like being on high guard.

And a guard job, especially in let's say Dawnstar or Morthal would not be easy nor boring. Bandit raids, etc. But of course people would complain if the game added in bandit raids, and what not. So of course that could never happen.

But being a Guard doesn't need to be boring the way Skyrim played it to be.

That and the Guards forget in Skyrim.

But in Fable, after I accidentally pressed a button and threw some lightning at a window. Even after I paid the fine I was never let down to "Don't go vandilziing any more property" and even the people of Fable "I heard you vandalized, is this true?" or "I thought you were special, but now"

In Skyrim you pay the fine and everyone is all okay and instantly forgets.

Skyrim guards suit their cliche Nord role quite fine "I'd be a lot happier with a Belly full of Mead"

Though it would be fun to have Guards like http://i47.tinypic.com/dm5rhx.png (A Soldier of the Imperial Legion) from Prequel, but it wouldn't be fair to those who want a life of crime :o

And? Why does a game need to be fair? Why does a game not challenge you for the choices you have made?

I agree.

Being good should reward you with personal morality and positive reactions. Being bad should get you rich and all, but at the cost of being 'banned' from cities and having negative reactions.

I think that Skyrim's guards should level up with the player. That way, if the player does some really horrible thing, they find themselves in a fight for their life no matter how strong they are.
