Skyrim Housing Market

Forgive me if there is an ongoing thread about future DLC's, I didn't see one / thought it was closed when dragonborn came out.

For the next DLC, if Bethesda is following the pattern of a large one with smaller ones in the middle, I belive that they should release a housing DLC. The house add-ons for Oblivion were great. I'm sure everyone had atleast one of those homes as their primary base. They were grand, imaginative, and soo very different from the houses avaliable in the cities. Personally, I loved Battlehorn manor because it gave me the feel of importance and nobility.

I believe that Bethesda should release a pack with several homes of a similar theme. A laboratory for a wizard to practise is craft in, possibly with a staff enchanter (like in Dragonborn) or basic atrinoc forge. A hidden lair for an assasin, or theif. Or a Castle / Manor for a warrior or a noble. I understand that Hearthfire was released to serve as the "ultimate" housing DLC, but it just...fails. There is no distinction, imagination, or signifigance of the homes you build. Imagine owning a Mansion in the Rift, with half a dozen NPC's serving your needs. Of course they could throw in some other features, like horse armor (I'm serious, I miss my armored stallion) or children of other races (Dunmer, Altmer, etc).

I just feel that, from a role-playing perspective, the options for a home are limited. Most of the city homes are small, lack displays for your loot, or are glitchy (breezehome), cramped (Solitude), etc. And the Hearthfire homes get REALLY crowded with a full staff (wife, children, bard, steward, housecarl, pets), not to mention get laggy after awhile. I would even accept a copy of Battlehorn, atleast it looked nice... and Frostcraig could maybe be added in the extreme south of the map?

Beth really did a good job with the home in Dragonborn, so there may yet be hope in the future. You are a god in the game (not litteraly), you should get the best and biggest home there is (I wish you could buy the blue palace )

What do you think?

- The castle you had to restore was really cool. I think that DLC was called Fighter's Stronghold.

- That Wizard's Tower, Frostcrag Spire I think, was also pretty great. I think that's also the DLC that introduced self-enchanting and naming items. I spent a lot of time there with a mage of mine.

- Oh, and I can't forget the Thieves Den. Now that was one awesome hideout. It was pretty huge if I remember correctly. You had all sorts of thieves and assassins down there working for you, bringing in loot and gold you could collect in the old ship that was in the hideout. Great stuff!

Wow, I guess there were all sorts of cool housing DLCs. Yeah, I definitely wouldn't mind some new creative living places like the ones I've mentioned. I highly doubt we'll ever get any though since they released Hearthfire and you can kind of build any house to suit you and your character.

True, but with Hearthfire all the homes are the same. Even the similar wings are basicallt eh same (trophy room just has its stands replaced with pots for greenhouse). The fact that you cant put any wing on any side erks me. I wanted my house to have a Bedroom, Library, and Kitchen...but nooooo.

And yes, the castle was, by far, the best.
