Skyrim kids are such brats

I don't understand why the children in Skyrim are so rude and bratty. I'm sure medieval kids would never have got away with such awful behavior. Someone would have whacked them right sharply if they'd tried it. (No child protection in those days) They are more like modern American kids. Besides, in the middle ages, they wouldn't have been running around the streets; they'd have been working. Even the Jarl's children would have been learning weapons skills (boys) or embroidery (girls).

There are 6 things I dislike about Skyrim to some extent and this is one of them. And it's not just the kids either, too much of the dialogue in Skyrim simply just too mean. If you ask someone what they do, they shouldn't respond "are you stupid, can't you see I'm a blacksmith/whatever!?" and so on. I mean, seriously, everyone threats the player as an idiot/slave, including main quest people after the main quest, and yet the player is the damn Dragonborn. Some respect please, although not too far into the other spectrum so it turns into worshipping :P

Bethesda doesn't know how to write actual characters...so they base npcs around a set of archetypical gimmicks, or traits that define the character in place of giving them actual depth. Another symptom of their quantity over quality design.
