Skyrim load times getting longer

Post » Sun Sep 16, 2012 4:34 am

Ive noticed that ever since launch my Skyrim load times have been getting longer. Loads used to be almost instantaneous but now can take between 5-10 seconds.
I only have 3 saves in my save folder at any one time but the charractors all have about 50 hours played on them.
Is this a thing for anyone else? I know the PS3 had lag issues after a certain play time.

Also I might get a SSD to sort this. Can anyone tell what I should look for to get the best one. Thanks

Count yourself lucky. on the PS3 my load times on higher lv characters/large save files would take up to a minute. In fact eventually I had to start storing stuff in another home cause my PS3 would freeze when I entered Whiterun.

No such issues on the PC now that I switched.

Even then a 5-10 second load screen imo is acceptable.

As you play for longer, there will be more things in the game that need to be loaded (locations, items, NPCs you interact with, quests), which means that it will indeed start lasting longer.

I get that but most games are coded so not everything is loaded at once. If I'm in Whiterun, only things in Whiterun should be loaded.
