Skyrim Maximum health Glitch.

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 11:34 am

(I have a feeling this may be in the wrong section, is hardware/software issues for all problems regarding Skyrim, gameplay and all?)

This may be considered a exploit to some, but I've come across a glitch in my game of Skyrim.

I was in a Barrow (Forgot the name, it uses the Sapphire claw) regarding finding a Thu'um wall. I came across a room with water at the bottom, raised platforms and several coffins. Skeletons and Draugr came out, and before long I came across a particular nasty Draugr Deathlord with ebony arrows and could off me in two hits. Being sneaky and strategic, I used the raised platform as cover, standing on the spiraling wooden path that went up towards the raised platform, and fired potshots whilst downing potions at any oppurtunity.

Eventually I had to make amendments and begin using potions that increased your maximum health, and also using sleeping tree sap. The rest is a bit blurry in how I remember it, but I'm pretty sure I got hit during when I was using the sleeping tree sap, causing my maximum health to stay at 166 health. I can use other health increasing items and even level up properly, but every time I use a item to increase my maximum health, it just stacks.

Theres no active effects regarding my maximum health, I'm not wearing any items that increase it as well. For some people that could be a benefit, but its irritating/discouraging to play when you're trying to regulate/balance out your maximum health/stamina/magicka.

I've heard there is a console command that resets any stat buffs, what is it? If there isn't, is there a way of resetting the buff so that its no longer green?

Since it wasn't specified, let me try to re-cap a little bit. You're saying that your health is now permanently at 166 points? And your normal health prior to that incident was at? I imagine lower, but I have to ask. This is rather peculiar.

The only thing I can think of is to do a player.modav health 0 or try to find the spell ID for the potion that you were drinking and doing a removespell command. Maybe this page will be of help with finding the IDs: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Fortify_Health (The following page might also be helpful: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Console)

I imagine that you're playing an unmodded version of the game, right? Have to ask because mods can sometimes cause strange behavior in game mechanics. Hopefully someone with more recent knowledge can help you out if my suggestions don't help. Best wishes.

Try unequipping everything that you are wearing and then put them back on again. There is a way to buff yourself with enchanting using potions but if you take off the things you are wearing that have enhanced your health then it sometimes resets you back to your original health and magic again.

I read back my original post and I did notice that I could of worded things wrong.

My health so far (With the buff that won't go away) is at 166 (Its also coloured green to say that I've used a item to temporarily increase my health, but theres no active effects saying I've got a health boost), whilst my actual non-buffed health is around 130-140.

I've tried unequipping items and typing in the command you posted - nothing happened. And I can't go back to a previous save because I didn't realize until much later when I was in Dustman's cairn.

Well 166 is not really overkill is it. I mean you can't just stand there and not die any slower than you would when your health was at 140. You'll maybe last a couple of seconds longer before your dead. But it not really killed your game.

I know, but eeeeehhhh... I'll disable all of my mods and see if there is a fix, but I did see someone with a similar issue, saying that there is a console command to fix this, but he couldn't do it because he was on the XBox version.

Try typing...

player.modav -xx

... into the console where "xx" is the value that you want to subtract from your health stat to get to its original value. If you subtract too much your health stat should be "red", and if too little then it will still be "green". Just add or subtract until the number shows up as "white".

I'm not 100% sure it will work but I know I had a similar issue awhile back and I think that's how I fixed it.

You can try what Jethrokirby stated but if that doesn't work, try out player.dispelallspells. Sounds like that could help.

Example: player.dispelallspells dispels any magic effect on the player including buffs/debuffs (not attributes/skills changed with the console), potions/poisons, DoT effects, and activated powers (except beast form and other morphs).

Okay, I've typed in player.modav health -16, and my maximum amount of health decreased back to 150! :D Thank you! However the text is still green... I feel like a perfectionist when asking this, but is there a way of changing that back to white? I guess I can still play normally, but it just doesn't feel right...

Not sure if you figured it out already or not, but you could continue subtracting until it becomes green like jethrokirby stated. I.e. player.modav health -1 until your health becomes white.

I've calculated my Health/Magicka/Stamina and the amount of health I am supposed to have is still green. But hey, a lot of people seem to be having this problem. Just as long as the glitch doesn't do any long-term effects (e.g crashing if you try to use a particular item or go into a certain dungeon/try to finish the game), I'm not bothered by it anymore.

what about the console command for player.setskill why hasnt anyone recommended that?

I have never tried it in general, and I actually just created a topic about this specific command in particular.

here is what my post contains:

Are there any drawbacks to using it?

I was thinking about using it to reset my attributes because I feel like I put too many into stamina.

I am not thinking of using this as a cheat. I want to only use the amount of skill points that I have already legitimately earned.

Right now, I am level 60, and I have 290 magicka, 330 health, and 270 stamina.

I want to SUBTRACT 70 points from stamina,

and add those 70 points to magicka and health (so I do not consider this a cheat.)

I am just worried as to whether or not this will permanently cause my attributes to be highlighted in green, or any other abnormal / annoying drawbacks.

Could someone with experience with this command let me know?

You probably would want to go with player.forceav health 400 and player.forceav stamina 200.

There's a UI glitch(or char limit) when you're over 1,000 in any of the three lol. 1214/12 is my HP in the UI :P.

That's a character limit. I suppose it's like that because Bethesda never expected people to have over 1000 of any stat. It's possible to get 900 in one stat via leveling and then use enchantments to take it over 1000, but yeah, they didn't account for that. The perks UI is mostly all flash and no functionality though, so it doesn't really surprise me.
