Skyrim messed up my new PS3 320GB

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 3:44 pm

So after Skyrim got to the point that it was freezing, I quit playing it as I didnt want to damage my PS3. Well, my son was playing Call of Duty 2 on it, and guess what it froze.

So now, I look at my data, and guess what, Skyrim has all kinds of corrupted save game files. So after spending 100 hours or more on a level 50 character, I had to format my hard drive and have lost everything.

Thanks for nothing gamesas.

I would like a refund for my Skyrim game or exchange it for the XBOX 360 version. Please contact me for my information.

5000$ say.. no one here probably gives a ... c-r-a-p. Everyone has there own problems. Everyone has to deal with them somehow. Right now Skyrim for me is unplayable. I can't even save my game for bloody hell.

It didn't mess up your console at all, you should have just deleted the corrupted files and moved on, it's not Bethesda's fault that you forgot to back up your hard-drive before you formatted it.

But it is Bethesdas fault it caused the PS3 to corrupt files in the first place wise guy.

People should just block Alecto. All he does is telling crap like he's God or something and as if he knows what he's talking about. The sad truth is, he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about and it personally pisses me off.

He is pissing me the [censored] off.

He seems to be genuine in his responses which makes it all the more bewildering.

Not bethesda's fault about the corrupted files? Too....much.....fail.

Not backing up your PS3's HDD atleast once a month, is not using your head. It takes something like this to realize that you should always back up your data. Its the first rule in using computers, or have we forgot this. You have to do it regardless of what games you play. Its a computer and it can get corrupted, by anything.

I'm not defending Bethesda at all. I know it was probably their fault that the files became corrupted, but it certainly wasn't their fault that the OP completely overreacted and deleted everything on their hard-drive.

The reason I deleted the whole hard drive was becuase I don't know what's causing my PS3 to freeze ON OTHER GAMES. BTW, I have not had any problems with my PS3 until after playing Skyrim and installing these Skyrim updates.

There were so many save game files for Skyrim, and probably 20 of them were corrupted. I just decided to delete all traces of the game to be sure.

Hopefully, they will contact me and let me exchange my PS3 Skyrim game for a Xbox360 version.

The game is screwed and the way I see it, the game does not work as advertised. The 360 version does not seem to be having these problems. I want an exchange or a refund.

I'm waiting.

No offense but some of us really are gamers who scraqe money together when expecting games like this to buy them......and I do mean scraqe. Some of us don't have cash for a hard drive to do this and some of us are pissed off that we should need to. From experience, when I get money together for a game of the year expectation I don't want a 60$ frisbee.

Actually he's right. Any time you format your hard drive you should backup data you want to save. Also the TC formatting his entire hard drive when only the Skyrim saves were corrupted might have been overkill.

I agree, I know a lot of people work hard to get that $60 bucks. To me, it's not about the money, it's principle. I was sold a faulty product, I want a refund or an exchange.

Which firmware version are you on? I've seen some people say that the 4.00 version has caused other games to crash as well, I'm still on one of the older versions so that might explain why I haven't had any crashes yet.

I have 4.00

Google 'PS3 4.00 crashes' and you'll see what I mean. It's much more likely that it was the update that made your other game crash, not Skyrim. If COD keeps crashing even after you've formatted the hard-drive then we'll know whether Skyrim caused it or not.

Yeah I would like some feedback to see if COD keeps crashing too. I've only had Skyrim freeze since 4.0 and no other game since I stopped playing it a few weeks ago, I'm not blamming Skyrim but I am keen to find out if it's 4.0 or something else I.E Skyrim.

This may or may not help, but I'm playing offline, completely unpatched, and I have yet to have a single hard freeze.

Every post you have made that I have seen, (which is a lot) are defending Bethesda. Are you being paid off XD. Or are you one of those people with a magical copy. Because I am one of those select few with a magical copy. (some stuttering here and there, 3 freezes and 1 broken quest) and I don't defend Bethesda at all. They should know how to program for a console they said "is just as good as the other ones". So why do always ALWAYS defend them?

Thanks for the response, have you updated to 4.0? I just uninstalled the patch for Skyrim and pulled out the ethernet cable. I might fire it up and give it a test run tonight.

Edit: Did you use to play Freelancer on Mike's server? Just thought I'd throw that out there :P

Nope and nope. Offline and unpatched is as it sounds. Only update I've had in some time was the firmware update on the disc.

I also experience random freezes now after starting to play Skyrim. My PS3 is only about 3 months old and it's never happened before. I noticed the HDD light is almost always on when playing Skyrim ......... I also noticed bugs are rather noticeable while playing Skyrim............ What is this? I don't even ...
