Skyrim midnight release?

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 9:49 am

I've never been to a midnight release and I was wondering if anybody could share some of their experiences? My gamestop said there would be snacks among other things. What do you think those "other things" are? I've heard on halos launch they had a big trailer where you could go sit in to play co-op deathmatches until release. Also, I heard at cods launch there was hooter girls passing out free chicken but anything related to COD is over hyped so I don't believe that one. Do you guys think Skyrims launch will have anything unique? Doesn't matter to me either way I just want the game but a little distraction while I'm waiting would be nice.

I'm a slight germa-phobe, so I'll pass on any free food/drinks that are at the midnight release. Apart from that, all I hope is that there are no immature kids ruining the event or making the environment awkward, I really just want to be in and out of my local Gamestop fast.

Was there a lot of people there? It would svck if only 3 people showed up... and do I have to come in at 10 if I already paid off the game?

Edit: Free stuff sounds fun but I bet its probably just a gamestop shirt or something amirite?

The streets will seem empty because everyone is inside playing MW3, but moments before the clock strike 12:00 a massive crowd of TES fans will storm through the streets in a hail of sorcery and steel before someone Fus Ro Dah's the door of the retailer down and we all charge through the breach and rip Skyrim from the shaking hands of the scared retailer employee, then we will spend a moment of silence contemplating the beginning of the rest of our lives while smelling the game case and rubbing our sweaty palms all over it before quickly scattering through the streets back to where we take sanctuary to begin playing the immaculate masterpiece known only as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim!

At least thats what oblivion was like. :hehe:

All the midnight releases I've been to have been: "walk up to cashier, get final reciept, stand in line for 20minutes, get game, drive home and play". I want free food dang it.

it really depends on the game

like i was at the COD release and there was a over 150 (maybe closer to 200) people there. but then I've been to releases that have been much smaller like Dead space 2where there was only like 10 people.

But for skyrim I'm sure there will be a lot of people considering how popular the game is.

as for the free stuff yea its usualy shirts and hats and gift cards and stuff like that.

I don't think there's going to be anything like free food at my game stop, you lucky person you.

That said, I'm most definitely going for it. First midnight release I'll have ever gone to.

My local gamestop is providing free pizza and wings, and consort women to those who pre ordered the collectors edition! Also, Todd Howard himself will be there to pose for photos and personally autograph people's copies of Skyrim! One luicky winner will also go home in a brand new Ford Focus!I can't wait!

I was at my friend's house the other day just before she worked at the COD release. She said she wasn't keen on policing all the gamers. I'm going to be at her house with my PC and Steam copy of Skyrim tomorrow night, so I suppose she's not working that one.

I really have no interest in release parties or boxed copies of games anymore. I did go the the midnight release of Wrath of the Lich King at Best Buy. That was only because my friend from wanted it and he was driving me home that day. The cashiers were shocked when I declined a copy.

I suppose if you end up at a location with a lot of long-time TES fans it could be pretty sweet. Release days and sneak previews for Star Trek movies are pretty fun for that reason. :D
