It seemed pretty generic to me. Just another loud orchestral piece with unintelligible singing.
Skyrim needs something more nordic... something that reflects their society...

something like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOKbhQbvpPA

I jest, (mostly)

That (without the guitar and horrible singing), would be an awesome combat song.

as much as I hate to admit it, it does sound Nordic when they "sing"

I like the trailer music, I just want there to be more. My problem with "Reign of the Septims" was that an imperial fanfare has a longer horns-sequence. I'm not a music person, but that high point is so brief, and thereafter the song is either doomy dooms of doom, or that weak "Lake Rumare" sequence. The actual Oblivion opening, where the theme is expanded, has a much sequence, with a longer fanfare (albeit still not enough). A good fanfare should be timed so that it lasts as long as it would take the player to stride (or march) from Weye to the gates of the Imperial City.

As for a reinterpretation of it, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0YGXhAcXc4 is a great rendition of "Reign of the Septims." I hope they get these guys to do Skyrim music as well.

I almost gurentee they will go with Jeremy Soule for the soundtracks. They had him do Morrowind, and I think he did Oblivion too. I will be pleased if they pick/picked him for Skyrim as his style of theatrical orchestral music fits the series so perfectly 99% of the time.

I don't know why, but the song feels lacking and empty with the voice over. It's obvious it was made to fit in perfectly with the voice over. I still love the part when the singing starts though.

The chanting does ruin it.

Even without the voiceover, I find this theme very, very, epic. :trophy:

Well in fairness to Skyrim's theme, a large section of the Oblivion theme was the Morrowind theme transposed up from C minor to D minor (and at like twice the tempo). I was actually surprised they didn't do something similar here. I personally like the theme so far, even though the chanting is a bit too loud to enjoy the actual music at times.
