As I have preordered Skyrim I was able to pick the game up today. I was so keen to just get home and finally play the game which I have been waiting forever for and anyway it doesn't work. I get to the main screen and hit new game and then agree that I want to start a new game, the game then goes to a loading screen, shows my level up the top right (level 1 haha) and has some tips basic loading screen. And then as soon as it is done loading for 0.5 of a second it shows my character dying and then the screen goes black. It then shows the bethesda software title and then goes back to the main menu. I choose new game again and go through the same thing and it shows me dying for a split second and then goes back to the main menu. THIS GAME IS NOT WORKING!!!!! Does anyone know anything about this or am I going to have to take it back tomorrow for a new copy?

I think your character is dying before you get to character creation because you are such a bad player. You might want to turn gamplay down to easy or something.

Oh yeh my bad its PS3, and mate real funny there is no option to change setting at the main menu. There is just new game, load game and credit. Doesn't even give you enough time to pause the game when you get to play for the split second, well if you can even call that playing.

consoles then I presume? I remember getting a crash on the character creation screen on oblivion the first time I loaded it up. Don't think I've ever been so pissed off. ANyway, phone tech support, or change it for another copy.

No its a proper copy it, pre-oredered it from JB-HiFi and it came with a full walkthrough and everything. Its completely legit game its just screwing up.

take out your digital camera...film whats happening go to where ever you bought the game from show them. You have proof you should get a new copy and they should trash the defected game

Yeh i think i'm going to film it and take it back tomorrow, just so pissed cause have been waiting for ages for it and now that i finally have it it's not working.

I can only think of 2 things. Uninstall the game on your PS3 and then reinstall it again and see what happens. Maybe try uninstalling it 2 times and reinstall it one more time. If it happens again, do you have a friend who has a PS3 but not installed Skyrim and then try with your disk. If still not working, I go back to the store and exchange it for another copy.

Seems very wierd that you have no options avaliable even before playing a game. I always choose the "subtitles" on, and Y-Axis Inverted before I even start to play, so you should be able to choose options even before playing.

Could be faulty Install and or disk.

yeh nah there isn't even an option menu at the main menu, i'll try the uninstall thing and see what it does but it could be the patch thing, we'll see what happens. Oh and live in Australia just btw, not britain or whatever.

id suggest youve created a corrupt save game file.
head into your ps3 save games and remove anything Skyrim connected. then test again.
sounds like the default save game is corrupted.
