Skyrim 2.01 Patch fixes the lag but now I have more problems

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 4:51 am

I downloaded the new patch for Skyrim and while it has fixed the lag isuues, I now can't buy anything from anyone who should be selling stuff. Also when I try to enter Breezelhome the load screen freezes for about 2 mins then starts loading and my dog will not stop following me. Has anyone else had any issues?

Honestly Bethesda, I love you guys but please test your software and patches before releasing them because this is getting silly now

Did the PS3 suffer from horrible blocky shadows like the game on pc?

If yes, has this patch fixed them?

Thanks.

I've played both PC and PS3. What do you mean by "Blochy Shadows"? You mean the 'Dynamic Shadows' thing they're putting in game now?

only made my account just now taken me 10 minutes to create, im still on skyrim on ps3 unpaused and stood infront of a dragon... yet im not dead... prolly cause the dragon is flying backwards in cirlces now and then, and when he isnt doing that... he is hovering...
this update has made the game in my opinion and experience (the last hour of gameplay) unplayable...

all i wanna do is play the game... the lag was quite good compared to the new patch...

This: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VAHDJr9vWg

Was there this problem on the PS3 too?
Did the patch fix it?

On the pc the only way to fix it is by changing the .ini file. But you lose the changes everytime you make a verification of game cache with steam or you change any settings in the loader.

If you had this problem and it was fixed by the patch, then hopefully it's also fixed in the pc patch... And I'll breathe a sigh of relief! :)

Yeah the PS3 has the 64 bit shadows too. No patch out here in the states yet to check and see if there is any improvement.

I think we're in danger of people experiencing bugs that were always there and wrongly attributing them to the new patch...

If the bugs where there pre patch and they are still here, it means patch didnt patch enough.

hi

first time posting here , but I can state that the patch has created some bugs that just weren't there before -

what I posted on other sites pertaining to the patch

my save file is 15mb and so far no lag - but the fix seems to have made taking books off the shelf in my home in Markath - non-existent - meaning I can clear the shelves but the books remain - meaning duping the books - then renders the empty but full shelf unuseable - meaning you can never interact with or read the books on those bookshelves again - this may not seem like a big deal but if fixing the lag renders some objects in the world unuseable then this could mean big problems especially with quest items - i have tried many tests, leaving the area - returning, waiting etc - but the only fix seems to be reloading the save before interacting with the shelves - think i can deal with the lag (restarting machine = coffee break) so i'm deleting the update game file

thing is the lag - its nothing new - I've had it in every Bethesda large world game I've played : Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 - they all get buggy and laggy after awhile always have and probably always will . Personally I think the more quests you have opened or enabled = to how laggy the game gets

or the dragon appearing - that slows everything down

i'm deleting the patch as i would rather be able to interact with things in my home and restarting the ps3 every hour than to not be able to

with that said back to questing with Cicero I've yet to give him Sanguine - but when I do I can feel Lou Reeds Vicious will need to be played ALOT

I think we're in danger of calling a buggy POS "acceptable" at all.

if you have saves after the patch install you cannot load them if you delete the patch ive already tried this in an attempt to salvage my game save

Someone has tried to create a new game after the patch? Because I tried that, and the game is doing very well until now. (About 4 hour, and save file are about 2,8mb)

I just think Bethesda is a big joke now, they have been in the business for long enough now to not have to release a game full of bugs and at the very least be able to fix the problems properly before releasing a patch that in some ways makes things worse I regret buying Skyrim now. I should have waited for a few months when the major problems had been dealt with.

The 'blocky shadows' are still there. I don't think that was a patch issue. The PS3 shadows (though unsightly) are inherent in the software design for the PS3 version of Skyrim. Perhaps a trade-off for having V-Sync (no screen tearing).
Personally I prefer smooth screens to smooth shadows.

Just my thoughts.

I know, my first game have 12mb and was unplayable and don't want to lose all my stuff. With patch now I can play almost without lag, some parts I still got some lag but much less than before. About the new game, I'm just reporting with a new file i'm having no trouble and it is running flawless but I will report latter cause I now the problem will appear when my save file becomes bigger.

should add I couldn't reload any of the old saves as the patch although only coming out a few days ago has a date of 10/11/11 and as the game came out 11/11/11 obviously the patch means you must have it to reload saves

I think it's labeled 2.01 for anyone outside of North America.

Ok.. quick Google proved myself wrong. The patch is labeled 1.2 on 360 and PC, but PSN has labeled it 2.01. Different numbers for different consoles.
