I feel like the human races are different enough from each other to warrant being there and the Nords themselves are fun because... well, Vikings.

Argonians aren't a race I've played but I don't think they look stupid at all, for what they are.

There's good and bad points about all the races, and you can have ugly characters from any background.

I sound like a hippie.

Argonians are the best IMO, I just love everything about them. Hopefully the next game will be in the Black Marsh.

My first Elder Scroll Character was an Argonian in Oblivion. I had much fun with it, but I found it more fun to be an Imperial and played as an Imperial for many years, but later I found out that The Dunmer was fun to play and they kind of became my main race :P
In Skyrim my first character was a Nord, and Since I'm Norwegian I had to be the one race that resembles myself the most :P
After that I played a a Dunmer. Now I play as the race I see as the most fitting to what kind of character I'm going to play :P
I have an Altmer mage who is a student of the College of Winterhold, a Nord Warrior/Werewolf, a Dunmer thief/assassin and Now I'm mostly playing as a Breton warrior/mage who will eventualli become a vampire (in Dawnguard ;D)
I don't like to play as a beast race much, I have made an Argonian rouge character and a Khajiit thief, but I didn't play with them for more than 5 hours each. I just didn't think it was as much fun ''/ But I'll guess I'll try to play them again later some time ;))

Sorry for long post (=

I personally like Argonians better than Khajiit. But I don't like how they're riddled with horns in Skyrim. I always play an argonian with bald heads.

I prefer the Morrowind crest choices of horns with fins, the crest, the long ears, etc.

Argonians looked more lizard-like in Morrowind. In Oblivion they look more like...well, Dragons. I don't like that.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great improvement over Oblivion. But they need to fix the horn/crest options.

So... i dont see the fascination with ppl liking Nords and Argonians
i mean nords are humans which we are already are so ....big woop lol .... and argonians look stupid looking no offense just an over sized lizard .

i like elves better

im just curious to why people like the humans and beast races .

ps. dont get me wrong i like the diversity in elder scrolls .

I think people are naturally patriotic of their own real race and ancestry so many white Caucasians will go for Nords for that reason. The same way someone of African ancestry will more likely go for a Redguard as they can model the character into how they would like to look. The fact that the largest chunk of the gaming audience is white Caucasian would explains the majority going for Nords as opposed to the very few that go with a Redguard.

I also think there is a lot of fans who aren't necessarily into the high fantasy as much and prefer something a little more down to Earth. Especially the older more maturer audience or ones that is more used to games like FIFA, Assassins Creed or Call of Duty yet like the vast content, open world and freedom that TES delivers. That is also a reason why I think some go for humans over elves.

I like to play as the human races the most. Not sure why, but it might be with the fact that I identify mysel more with them

That said I like all the races in the series.

I like Beast races because I can never get over the flaws the Human and elves have. The faces are always too gaunt with the human Nords, Old for the Bretons, and Imperials are the same. And excluding the Dunmer I just dislike the elves. They're so... imperfect. I need my characters to be Flawless, beautiful, and all that good stuff. That's why my favorite race are the Khajiit, I can make perfection with them. Their default features get rid of the gauntness of the Human races, age doesn't show with them, their history and anatomy are more appealing than the human races as well. I don't create characters in my game. I create, ART!!!

The Elves are are a bunch of transgendered silly-nannies.

See, we all have opinions.

I agree ^^ But I don't play much of the Khajiit and Argonian :P Or the Wood Elf. I don't like the wood elf because they're so short :P I always play as a male character, and a wood elf archer is awesome, but I can't stand being that short x]

I don't know what you're talking about, I don't play argonian- though I could tell you why Nords are really popular. Nords is obvious, we're in Skyrim xD. This is the Nord's homeland. + some hardcoe Nord players have been waiting for this since Solstheim. Argonians, idk. I hate the way they look compared to Morrowind + Oblivion

Argonians was my favourite choice of the sneaky classes in OB. In skyrim they actually look cool but for me it came down to what they started with

some people like to play with a character that resembles them, and that's perfectly understandable.

I think everyone chooses their race for their own reasons. Some choose human races ( Nords, Brentons, Redgaurds, etc.) because they like to play as a representation of themselves. I choose to play as the beast races (mostly Khajiit and Argonian) because that way, I dont have to obsess with making my character attractive. Since in real life, there are no Khajiits or argonians, who is to say if your beast character is ugly or not? And then the elves. Some play as elves because of there connection to myth and fantasies, which is slightly what TES is. It lets us not be ourselves, but not go all in with a beastfolk. I guess i'd compare it to testing the water, maybe. Anyone agree? :o

Most elves just look odd which is why I don't play them and I think beast races are popular because their even more odd. Elves are stuck in the middle of the odd spectrum and suffer because of it.
