Skyrim's Replayability

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 5:50 am

Just wondering, I never finished a TES game before, I'd like to ask so far in this Skyrim experience and also on previous TES games, what do you think is the replayability limit?

I'm trying to make my walkthrough the game the slowest I can, trying to catch every possible detail, getting into the plot and my character development, so far 50 hours, and it scares to me that the approximate hours of unique gameplay is 300 hours, the game makes me want to play it forever, not for just another pair of weeks.

So what do you think is the limit to get bored of the same plots, quests and dungeons? and comparing the experience with previous games?

I've seen people that claims to have been playing morrowind / oblivion since their release until today... I know the mods help, but I'm sure there are no mods that add more content than the game itself, so how is it possible that you don't get bored at the game, and u think skyrim will be better or worse at that?

As far as I can see, in terms of hours of Gameplay, Skyrim is longer game.

Maybe no single mod adds more content than the game itself, but you should see just how many mods I downloaded for them... especially, Oblivion, where I downloaded around 400 mods, and had around 150 active.

In fact, just browsing TESNexus is fun in and of itself, just to explore all the options.

Hell, it's actually pretty difficult for me to complete the game with many of my characters, just because I keep modding in more characters and new quests that I have to go complete. By the end, the only thing that was left of the vanilla Oblivion was the engine and the overall shape of Tamriel. Core mechanics, skill functionality, level system, full custom clothes and race and models for hair and face and body shape, monsters, dungeons, cities, all of it modded.

Try Skyrim Nexus, even though Creation Engine isn't out, people trying very hard to do some serious stuff :D

Yeah but the question is if those hours could be repeated

There were lots of mods for the previous games that added content. Some of them, like Tamriel Rebuilt, added huge amounts of new land to explore and many new quests.

It is impossible not to get bored of the game eventually, even with mods. When you do, just take a break for a few months and there will be a huge amount of mods for you to play when you start to play again.

If you really want to get the longest life out of a TES game, I would suggest not trying to do everything with one character, and instead you should make specialized characters. This will make each play through of the game more unique instead of replaying the same content over and over again.

Besides, you have to do all the steam achievements right ;)

There is no answer to your question since everyone will have a different experience with his game.

All i can say is, do what your doing, take your time, savor the game ;)

Steam Achievements, PSN Trophies, Xbox Live Achievements

it's always worth playing a Bethesda game
