Hello. As i was about to install Skyrim i noticed it wants to do it via steam? Is it just for activation or do i actually have to play the game through steam?

I honestly don't like the idea at all.. it means if i lose my steam account, skyrim is gone.. :/

Steam is fine. Just make a decent password completely different from everything else (which you should be doing for everything anyway). Never had trouble with Steam.

Why would you lose your steam account? Steam is run by Valve: one of the most successful, profitable game developers in the world and even if it were ever to die, part of the terms and conditions shows that you would be allowed to have a permanent copy of any software you ever bought or used through steam.

Sure, i suppose losing my account isn't very likely. But like..let's say i did, that would mean i couldn't play it again unless i bought a new copy, right?

And why do they even make the game discs when it seems like i can't use them to install it anyway? From the looks of it, Steam is downloading it?

Don't install until after midnight when it unlocks otherwise it will do this.

It will install from disc if it exists in the drive and tied to the account.
