Skyrim reviews........

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 3:27 pm

This is the only thing that gets me.

Morrowind was hailed as a brilliant game in many regards, but criticized for poor combat. Oblivion was hailed as a brilliant game in many regards, but criticized for poor combat. Skyrim is being praised as a brilliant game in many regards, but criticized for poor combat.

At what point does Bethesda say, "with people playing these games for hundreds of hours, maybe we should try to make the combat mechanics more entertaining"?

Cuz its hard to do? Shooters are easy. Point. Click.Bang.Dead. Swinging a sword or an axe is lots more complicated ... even more so in FPP. The next Elder scrolls should develop a more physics based comabt system ( hiting somebody with a freaking MAUL on the noggin should have the appropriate head-mushing result ... no matter the HP)

Those sure appear to be impressive scores.

Imagine, such high scores even with cuirass and greaves combined!

The combat looks fine to me. How would you like the combat to be changed?
Something more dynamic than merely pushing a button to swing your sword, which is effectively always the same swing.

Recent games like the two Batman Arkham games have had fantastic hand-to-hand combat. It feels very fluid and very dynamic.

Could Skyrim really even surpass the already unrealistic expectations? It certainly seems so based on the reviews. All of them can't be bribed, can they?

Luckily there are things to watch elsewhere, what with the internet and cable and etc, so one need not get their video fix with game spoilers.

Just say no.

Do not be tempted by the dark side.

These are not the videos you seek.

This is definitely GoTY, I don't see any other game getting higher scores then it anytime soon.

Batman already has a higher score.......................

Maybe... It still has to pass Dark Souls. Which on many of those review sites it has not.

Incorrect... Batman has 96 on 360 and 94 of PS3.. Therefore the average is 95... Tied with Skyrim... :)

It's all thanks you to you and the team, vsions. So many great accolades that we knew were coming your way. What a great team you have at Bethesda. I don't have Skyrim yet and I'm so ready to play.

I came to post this link with a new video dragon fight. No one should click on it if you think fighting a dragon up close is a spoiler. This was the first time I actually got a feel for what it will be like for me with a bow and getting VERY close to the giant beast.

:celebration:

You know what this really says? When pros are giving this game 100's with KNOWN technical issues? This says this game is so overwhelmingly good, the glitches can't take away from the experience.

Go Bethesda!

Yah, that is a good sign. Perhaps,.(and I'm a fan of Fallout 3 and FNV).

That said, I've seen these gaming reviewers in the past give huge thumbs up on games that in the end ended
up being very disliked by the mass' due to bugs and other issues.

I do not consider the 'pro' reviewers the end all be all anymore as they seem to be too easy to impress. Sometimes anyway.

Out of the most that publish reviews on MEtacritic? I'd say I trust less than a handful of the review sites that are typically listed there.
I wont' mention names as my list I'm sure is at opposition to the legion of lurking trolls and this time I won't feed them.

I'll find out later tonight and tomorrow for myself.
