Skyrim running better in 3rd person

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 6:26 am

I'm new here so forgive me if this topic has already been covered but has anyone else found that Skyrim runs better in 3rd person?

I've got the game up and running and the only issue I've noticed so far is that the game is laggy when I walk around in the 1st person perspective. The minute I pull back to the 3rd person it runs just fine...I even notice NPCs and animals walking by from time to time that seem to laggy and chug as they pass me by.

Anyone having problems with this?

Well I did some more reading and went in and turned down my shadow settings to medium but that didn't seem to help at all.

Anyone else with FPS problems notice that Skyrim runs better in the 3rd person perspective?

Do you have vsync disabled? That caused WAY more problems than it solved on my machine. Like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KD23g62zDIw&feature=feedu rather than moving smoothly, which possibly fits your description of "laggy and chug as they pass me by".

The mouselag is terrible, but I'm just living with it for now.

@beck: No I've searched all over my PC and I can't find anywhere to turn off my v-sync...watching that video maybe it's a good thing I can't.

As for mouse lag, I'm using a 360 controller with the "looking around" sensitivity turned way down and I'm still getting framedrops.

I love the game so far and I hope the devs can fix the framerate (for me) and issues that others (like you) are having.

*fingers crossed*

This happens to me too. It's silky smooth in 3rd person, but in menus and 1st person it's like it's missing frames. Radeon pro shows a solid 50fps though. I'm using totally default everything and no AA. It's extremely frustrating and stopping me from playing the game. It's almost like my mouse pointer goes past a tree, some foliage, a particle effect, an actor, anything and the mouse slows as if it's auto aiming on it. Why does this problem exist when first person is perfect! Please please please help!

The fault is also present but less noticeable with all graphics options and LOD turned to minimum. I have a 6950. The game developers have seriously broken mouse input in first person camera.
