Welcome, welcome!
tonight i would like to discuss with you some creepy encounters that you have came across during your daily routes around skyrim. These can be urban legends, noises, apparitions, stories and quests

give me your spooky tonight guys!

i'll start:

This happened to me a LONG time ago when skyrim was just released. i was in falkreath at the inn and i decided to take a night time stroll into the dark forests surrounding the city. After gathering up some hides from hunting i heard a huge deathly scream coming from the darkness. It sounded like some banshee and as soon as i heard it, i pooped a couple of dwarven ingots and noped the hell out of there. Further stories creeped me out about Falkreath thanks to "the woodcutter's wife". Some people claim that the screams are from Elks while others disregard this and believe that its the screams of a woman/ghost coming from the depths of the forests.
Its now over a year later and i still rarely visit Falkreath because i'm scared of the spine chilling screams :(

what about you guys?

I have never heard these screams in Falkreath, although I imagine that they came from Shriekwind Bastion, the Nordic ruin that is used as a vampire lair. The screams must have something to do with Lamae Beolfag and the Shrieking Wind.

Some say that if you stare long enough into the depths of the forest then it would eventually stare back at you...

just stick around in the forests and you will hear it... it's quite rare but when you hear it; it will give you some goosebumps!

im confused with people who say its deer... there are deer lots of other regions in skyrim but i never hear any screams from them anywhere else apart from the forests around falkreath!

hm. you could be onto something there however i was west of Falkreath at the time i heard it, not north. but that's an interesting point you bring up!

I think it was the second time visiting Falkreath and It was night as I neared the town. I heard this ghastly terrifying scream and the hair of my necks stood. I had no companion to lean on for moral support. I Hid in a bush next to a tree near the lake. I looked around for about 20 seconds before deciding it was not after me at least. Just as I stood up a splosh in the water almost made me piss myself. I just ran the last bit to Falkreath and when I saw the guards at the north gate I was so relived. Never been so scared in a game, I was really immersed then.

I have only heard that scream once, and it scared the hell out of me. I wasn't ever able to figure out where it was coming from though.

Where? When?

Anyway, I remember reading a book that talked about 2 bandits in Cyrodiil entering what looked like an abandoned house. They got in, and started exploring the dark interiors with a lantern. Though the house was not empty as those two poor folks believed. Nope.

The ghosts of the former owners, a family with 2 or 3 kids I think, still 'lived there', endlessly repeating the last moments before getting murdered by a creature, a werewolf I think. You can't believe how scaried the bandits were, and me too a bit.

Amazing story.

Hahahahaha i hate it when you play skyrim for so long that you get really immersed into it! Draugr's which are usually fun to kill all of a sudden become the scariest things that you dont want to wake up while in the dungeons, Dwarven ruins along with their inhabitants become scary and those screams from falkreath to top it off just turns me into a little kid all over again :(

thank the nine! i thought i was the only one!

the forests west of Falkreath was the only place that i heard it ever... after that i have just fast travelled to falkreath for quests etc but i never immersed myself ever again within the forests surrounding it ever since that happened

i find it fantastic at how much detail is put into this game with all of the books available! so much effort and detail has been pumped into these games to give you moments like these! creepy story by the way but woodcutters wife still takes the cream from me! :(

are there any other horror books out there?

Dear god, I'm getting scared VERY easily, good thing I never poked around Falkreath by night.

'Horror at Castle Xyr' or something line that is a real horror book. I don't know where to find it though.

I think I heard a scream in falkreath as well. I was convinced it was deer or something dying.
