Skyrim's Second DLC Thoughts

Post » Mon Aug 20, 2012 9:34 am

So Skyrim has been out for about 9 months now and I have been enjoying every second of it. I anxiously awaited for the announcement of the first DLC, which was to be called "Dawnguard". Bethesda had trademarked the term "Dawnguard" a few months prior to the DLC itself being released. Soon after trademarking "Dawnguard", Bethesda proceeded to trademark a new term in the same category as Dawnguard, known as "Hearthfire". Could "Hearthfire" be the name of Skyrim's second DLC expansion? It could very well be possible. The term "Hearthfire" refers to a month in the Elder Scrolls lore as well as a book which I believe raises your conjuration or something else in that nature.

So far we have speculated what the next DLC might be called, but now I want to hear everyone's thoughts and wishes for the DLC. Bethesda has added numerous things into the game that they showcased in their Skyrim DICE Gamejam video. Many of those things were added in future patches and with Dawnguard itself. There are still many things in that video that Bethesda has yet to add though such as Spears, Building Houses, Water in dungeons, Dragon Mounts, etc. We can probably expect to see some of those things in a future DLC.

Now for my wishes for the DLC. First and foremost, I want to be able to go another province, specifically Hammerfell but if anything it would probably be Morrowind or Cyrodill. If not another province, at least a Daedric Realm like Shivering Isles or any new area which has it's own game map like Shivering Isles or Point Lookout from Fallout 3. Another thing that I wouldn't mind would be more skills. More skills would increase the level cap which would be cool but the only problem is, I have no idea what other skills would make sense to be added other than cooking, which is pretty mediocre. Something else they could add is possibly a quest package or something. Maybe they could just add a bunch of new side quests throughout the game and include plenty of new weapons and armors for us to acquire. As for the story of the DLC, I would like to see some sort of continuation with the conflict between the Thalmor and Skyrim. Maybe a battle to allow the worshiping of Talos or something?

That's all I have for now but I would love to hear all of your ideas. Thank you! :tes:

I would want spears, for one.
If this required going to another landmass, then I'd fine with it.

It Hearthfire is mage-related, as people here tend to assume, then I'd be very disappointed.

hearthfire somehow makes me think of solsthiem. If they are true to form. the next dlc will be a land expansion of some sort. Just dunno which sort yet. There will probably not be an entire province. Maybe another deadric realm. I've heard rumors about more stuff related to ice elves. So maybe it will be an expansion of the underworld.

I still think Rorikstead has some dark secret. I've made several threads about that town. It was a barren wasteland where nothing would grow, then suddenly because of the "blessings of the gods", it became the best farmland in Skyrim. It seems like it would be a good starting point for some sort of DLC.

There are "blessings of the Gods" in Skyrim...that's a legitimate explanation in itself.

I don't think so. Everybody acts secretive in that town. If it one could simply pray and turn the land fertile, then more people would be doing it.

Its going to be a house building dlc.

I've seen others say this in other threads aswell. Boy, I hope not. It would be cool if it was a feature
that came along with the DLC, but I would definitely be majorly disappointed if the DLC revolved
around building your own house. That would dumb it down to the size of the Oblivion's smaller DLC's.

I'd LOVE the opportunity to interact with more Snow Elves!

We hear about the final battle of the Snow Elf race in the book "Fall of the Snow Prince". The battle
(The Battle of Moesring) took place on Solstheim. It would be cool if the final stand was actually a
large-scale diversion, so that civilians could escape the Nords. Some became the twisted Falmer of
Skyrim, but some fled from Nord persecution. What if they went further north? To some unknown
distant islands between Tamriel and Atmora. Or maybe even Atmora itself!?

It would give you a chance to experience a whole other continent, AND learn more about the illusive
fate of the Snow Elves.

The building house could go as the mounted combat, as a free patch pre-DLC.
As for Spears, yes, since mounted combat I want them too.
AS for the main DLC, while more things it has the better. No matter if there is mages stuff or wathever.

well if its a house building dlc i think it should be around $10 or less if its $20 i expect you would rebuild helgan and have certain quests for it such as defending it from invaders, investing in the city for a blacksmith, alchemist, ect, and many other features maybe you make your own mansion or estate

There was enough Falmer story in Dawnguard, in my opinion, and it was more interesting than the vampire story.
To do more Flamer DLC would be like doing more Dragon-centric DLC, it's old hat at this point.

I want something new, without snow or Nords.
