» Tue May 08, 2012 11:03 pm I am a huge TES fan and am treating this midnight release like the big deal that it is, so naturally I began to panic when I was told that nowhere in an hour radius is doing a midnight release. I don't have a car and was scared that I would have to wait an entire night (no this isn't sarcastic) to play the game!
Our of desperation I called the Gamestops and Bestbuys every few days just to be sure. Every single time they said the same thing and I had finally given up hope.
Then I'm with my friend in Bestbuy a few days later and just out of curiosity I ask an employee and they said "What's Skyrim?".
I told them it's a midnight release they might be doing but immediately was shot down. "No we're doing MW3 on the 8th and can't do multiple midnight releases so close, it's tough on our employees."
I thanked him anyway and after browsing the store aimlessly I come upon a preorder booth that's advertising Skyrim's midnight release in that very Bestbuy. Uh...what? Double take. "Skyrim's midnight release on 11/11/11" Wait a second... am I so depressed over this my eyes are playing tricks on me? Surely this can't be right, I've been told by many people (at least 7 differant, mabey more) from multiple stores that there is no midnight release anywhere near my area.
I rubbed my eyes and after reading it a third time I found the nearest employee and instead just simply asked "May I speak to a manager, please?"
After a short wait I am greeted by someone in a nice suit and the gentleman informs me "Yes we're doing a midnight release!"
...wut.
I asked out of morbid curiosity, "How long have you had this midnight release planned out?"
"For quite a while now, this game is huge! Can't wait to play it, I'm so glad I'm not the one working that night! XD"
I explained to him my story and he apologized and told me that he's very sorry and bla bla then we geeked out over the game while he signed me up!
Anywhoozle, that was the last few weeks leading up until today, and here's the last day! I'm all ready for Skyrim, I have all my energy drinks and food stored up for a magical night of gaming, best mood I've been in years! Just because I'm crazy I decide to call the Bestbuy one last time to confirm the release.
"Hey I have a question about a video game."
"O.....ok..." (Yes they stuttered with a really confused voice)
"Are you doing a midnight release for Skyrim tonight?"
"No." Plain and solid, no hesitation.
My heart sank, out of anger I replied "Are you sure?"
"Let me find out" I'm put on hold, and a few moments later she returns and informs me "Yes, yes we're doing a midnight release."
I'm a nice guy so instead of asking the obvious question "Why did you say no..." I simply thanked her and said goodbye.
Epic fail best buy...epic fail...
Sorry for the rambling from a crazy nerd but this was sort of a big deal and I can't believe how terrible those employees are for lying to me just so they don't have to work. Bleh, thanks for reading.
