Skyrim on PC, is a totally different game

Post » Thu Oct 25, 2012 1:23 am

I've kind of said the same thing about Skjyrim without Hearthfire, only I used blueberry pie. Once you're aware of how good blueberry pie a la mode is, you just don't see the point in eating it plain.

I don't intend to get Skyrim on PC, because I don't like playing games with a keyboard. Nothing breaks immersion like having to hunt and peck for the right key.

As far as mods go, my first exposure to them was a Youtube video of some sick bastard using a Fallout one to slaughter Little Lamplight. So needless to say, I didn't have a very high opinion of them. I now know that there are some good ones out there that genuinely improve the game, but I don't think the enhancements they provide are worth the hassle of playing hunt and peck on a keyboard. If I can get the DLC I want on PS3, I will happily do so, and return to Skyrim for more fun. If not, I will declare it to be 45 bucks and 450 hours well spent, and move on to another game

Wired 360 controller works on PC with Skyrim just pointing that out.

You can use a PS3 or Xbox controller with the computer, all you hae to do it plug it in a USB port and there you go, Skyrim on PC with a controller.

Don't you need a third party program for the PS3 controller to work? Pretty sure it's not set up like the 360 controller is...

Yes, but it's simple freeware and doesn't need to be configured, just download it and you're good to go.

I long thought about getting a high budget PC, and Skyrim was the game that finally convinced me to do it. It cost me around 2000 U.S dollars but was totally worth it!
The ultra graphics and long rendering distances are more important than mods for me though. Still, mods are a ton of fun and adds alot to the game, and I even got into casual modding myself.
When I finally got my PC up and running I had spent my first 30 hours or so on the Xbox 360 version, and was stunned to see the big differences!

$2,000!? My god it must be a monster, assuming you built it yourself. Mine cost be about $1,200 and just laughs at Skyrim on Ultra.

The thing with hunting for the key is something that would be a minor problem in the beginning, all my games I play with keyboard and mouse and I never look or hunt for the right key. Once you learn the keyboard and it's locations of keys it sits in the fingers and feels as natural as on a controller.

A 360 controller would be fine, if there was a way to make it work. You can get a 360 controller without getting a 360. But from what I've heard, Skyrim is one of the games that won't work on a PC, even with a 360 controller. Just got my PC, so I can't be sure.

Even if it does, I think I'd rather just get a game I don't already have. My gaming budget isn't big enough to double up.

Not with my level of manual dexterity. My fine motor skills are a laugh, that's why none of my characters use archery. I've played action games on PC before, and have decided that I prefer strategy ones for it, the type of thing you can play with just a mouse.

Not sure what your talking about there... plays just fine for me on my PC with an Xbox controller, just like on my Xbox. But I wouldn't recommend anyone switching to PC just for Skyrim, unless you really really want mods and can't live without them.

Most of which are garbage.. I have yet to see a good home or land pack.. Some armor packs look cool.. But its basically like fixes in the game itself for me..

There are indeed some that I would use. But there are none that I would buy a game for.

Besides, Fallout 4 will be along eventually. Maybe I'll get that for PC, and mod that.

I couldn't stand how the water texture did not follow a river's course.
So one of my favorite mods makes the water look better, especially how it flows.

?

No idea who told you that, playing SK with a 360 controller is actually even better on PC than on Xbox thanks to the 8 configurable hotkeys.

Do you use a wired controller or "un-wireless?" How do you configure it for the pc?

USB wired. On PC you can mimic the behavior of the keyboard and use either the left or the right bumper as the Shift key, so you can bind actions to the D-pad for the first 4 hotkeys and D-pad plus the bumper for 4 more, total 8. I think this is very much an "rub it in, rub it in" thread that can come to no good at the least and a platform/console nightmarish flamefest at the best.
