Skyrim Pc Version

Post » Sat Oct 27, 2012 10:54 pm

I don't know where exactly to put this question so sorry if it is the wrong spot.

Do you think that an older pc like mine would run the pc version of this game here are the comp specs

Windows XP sp3
Intel celeron CPU, 2.66 GHz
1 Gb of ram
I do believe it has whatever graphics card came preinstalled out of the dell factory.

It plays World of warcraft, and guildwars fine i little laggy but not to bad.
I was just curious i didn't want to purchase it unless i think it will run on my comp. That way me and my wife don't have to share the xbox anymore. If not it is ok we will just have to keep sharing the xbox.

Well, it's quite essential to know the GPU.

Short answer is no. You are low on RAM and seeing the age of the processor I would say it is a good way of trying to murder your PC.

here are the requirements Bethesda revealed before launch

The minimum PC requirements, as tweeted by Bethesda's http://twitter.com/#!/DCDeacon:
  • Dual-core CPU, 2.0 GHz or faster
  • 2 GB RAM
  • DirectX 9.0c video card with 512 MB RAM
  • 6 GB HDD space
  • Windows XP/Vista/7 [32 or 64-bit]
  • Internet access for Steam activation
And the recommended spec:
  • Quad-core CPU
  • 4 GB RAM
  • DirectX 9.0c video card with 1 GB RAM - GTX 260/Radeon 4890 or higher
  • 6 GB HDD space
  • Windows XP/Vista/7, internet access, etc

Without even knowing what graphics card, no, you're already below minimum on CPU and RAM. I wouldn't even attempt it. On lower end (min spec) systems, it will play well, but be only slightly nicer to look at then consoles.

Don't give up on the case too quickly.
I have a friend who played it with a computer only slightly better then what the OP posted - of course to know the GPU would be important.

There is a big difference tho if he has 2GB of ram or only 1GB as the OP. Skyrim alone eats for my part 1,5-2,5GB RAM alone.

Considering the gpu is most likely one of the on board types and the low ram and CPU I wouldn't even try. Sorry man. Good news is you could build a min spec system for about $500 to $700 if you shop around.

I see you live in California. First move to Texas like everyone else from your state. Then take the money you've saved from not being taxed to death to buy a new computer.

Intel extreme graphics controller usually means onboard graphic so in your case you would have to update graphic card and RAM. It's probably better buying a new computer to be honest as once you start fiddling with a new GPU, you might need to replace power supply if it isn't giving enough power.

Atleast it gives you a easier life then if she hated you playing games in the first place. :)

Upgrading old computers is always a risk as once you change one thing you risk having change another. Specially with old systems like the one you have.

You could do a search using the phrase Can my computer play Skyrim, and it will give you results and you can pick one that will tell you what you need to do to upgrade your computer to play Skyrim on it. Hoped that helped.

Specs
AMD sempron 3000+ processor
1.81 GHz (obviously this is low)
2 Gig of ram (I can upgrade this her comp has 4 memory expansion slots and i have (4) 512 mem sticks in it)
Geo force accelorated 3D graphics card

Again just curious

I don't know what Sempron is, but IIRC it's single core, so you're kinda blowed.

Also, GeForce powered doesn't mean it's good. If it came with 7200GS (for example), simply buying an i5 CPU will instantly net you a better GPU

Also, you said it has 2GB, but you said it has 2 512MB in it, which is true?

Again, wouldn't bother. Honestly, if you're not going to invest in a kick-butt gaming PC, you're probably far better off just investing in a second (pre-owned) XBox and a dedicated TV. Reason being, low-end isn't worth the jump to PC, you can get a refurb XBox from gamestop for under $150, and a 20" (or so) TV to play it on for around $100. Half the investment in a super low-end PC that would not necessarily play any better.

I know oblivion runs very nice on an 800$ laptop i had, you has to make sure you have a separate graphic card and not integrated graphic.
Skyrim does not have very much higher requirements.
if you go up to 1000$ laptop or tower, you are pretty sure, again the focus on graphic.
Now this is not much higher than an cheap laptop.

Will say an to line gaming pc is pretty much waste if you are pretty happy with the graphic on xbox.
