Yeah, maybe next gen TES will look better than that (although I doubt MUCH more). :)

For now, it's better having a huge world populated to hell with awesome quests + NPCs and interesting things to do than it is to have pretty graphics. But of all the game series out there that could use a lick of paint, it's definitely TES.

Who gives a [censored] about graphics? You can have the best looking graphics in the world, but they aren't worth a damn without content and gameplay.

And it would probably run just as slowly as that on the average computer.

Oh, really? Do go on.

There isn't really much to go on about. I don't really see what the issue is - good/amazing graphics are nice, but my two favorite games came out in 2001/2002 respectively and thrived purely on having great gameplay mechanics, an amazing story and/or lots of filler content to keep you busy. The graphics were "good" for the time, but weren't anything stellar compared to today. (Those games are MGS2 and Morrowind, for the record.)

I suppose if you have the ability to put in amazing graphics, go ahead - but graphics should NEVER be the main focus of any game at all. ever.

I like how the water is seamless when you dive under. Right now with Beth games you can see a split.

And you probably realize the first Cryengine wasn't for consoles, right?

Actually, I am very happy with the way Skyrim looks.

Lol yeah CryEngine 1 would melt the consoles (it melted most PCs when it came out). CryEngine 2 might do it but anyone who played Crysis knows that CryEngine 2 was a massive backwards leap.

I agree Skyrim looks sweet on my PC.

That's absolutely stunning, but to be honest, I like Skyrim's better. It just looks 'too real', and doesn't make me feel like I'm in a fantasy world. It just doesn't feel right for something like Skyrim ,and I'm glad they went the way they did with it.

That's all the art direction. More so then graphical quality, something that is misunderstood at times I think.
I agree though.

Once you enable tree shadows in Skyrim, it's a different game. Nowhere near as "flat" looking. I'm very happy with the way it looks.

You can have both, and deny all you want graphics go a long way to immersing the player into the world, there is a reason we keep striving for better graphics, if not go back and play pong.

If Skyrim were on CryEngine....less copies would have sold due to insane requirements, and future TES games would have been adversly affected.

Until consoles update we can't update graphics.

And also Most pcs can't even run crysis very well unless its a VERY VERY GOOD computer. I'd rather not have to pay 1.2k dollars to play my Favorite Games ever(elder scrolls series)

Have to keep in mind they had to deal with many platforms which hinders graphics.

If it was based on that engine no one would have a computer that would be able to run it.

If Skyrim used CryEngine we would have to wait another 2 years for the game to be released. I quite like playing it now :)
